The Bygone Era of Supreme Court Support for Voting Rights
Sixty years after upholding the Voting Rights Act, the Court has dismantled most of it.
Tomorrow marks the 61st anniversary of Bloody Sunday in Selma, Alabama. It also marks the 60th anniversary of the Supreme Court first upholding the Voting Rights Act.
We have gotten so, so far away from a Court that cares about democracy.

The approximate cause of death for Anne Frank was the Nazis. The specific cause of death was the outbreak of Typhus at Bergen-Belsen camp, which overtook her (and others) from chronic malnutrition and medical abuse. These conditions are not, in character, unlike our system of immigration camps today

Today in Geneva, Switzerland, Jared Kushner will represent the United States in meetings with Iranian officials โ a last
As Trump ramps up his warmongering with Iran, his own son-in-law Jared Kushner โ who is leading negotiations with Iran โ stands to profit from lucrative contracts with its regional rivals.

Black and white photo of Porter seated at a desk in front of a row of bookshelves and a card catalog. She is a Black woman with shoulder length wavy hair. She is wearing a dark dress with white accents, and is reading a book which is open on her desk.
Dorothy Porter was a librarian at Howard University where she took a small collection of donated materials by and about Black Americans and curated it for 40 years into the 180,000 item Moorland-Spingarn Research Center. #BlackHistoryMonth

Right, another key thing that historians do is working with important records that have not been digitized.
And the vast majority of the worldโs records *have not been digitized* and thus do not exist in any format that LLMs/AI can work with.

My colleague got into Trump's sprawling family detention camp, which is full of toddlers, kids, & teens.
- Kids have cut themselves or talked about suicide
-There's worms & mold in food
-300 kids have been held for 30+ days, far longer court settlement allows

Shun Medoruma is one of the most important contemporary Ryukyuan writers, especially since his 1997 Akutagawa win. His novel In the Woods of Memory was the first full-length work from Okinawa translated into English. Today, he spends more time as an environmental and peace activist than as a writer.

Apparently there is another video of ICE murdering someone and so I will remind you, again, that you do not have to watch it in order to confirm the thing everyone already knows: ICE is a lawless group of thugs who are killing people who stand up for basic American rights.

ICE is sending these kids to the concentration camp in Dilley, Texas, where they're preparing to have so many children that they're opening a new school there. They're actively hiring teachers now. I reported on it last month. We have to get people out of there.
