I have been dreaming of an indoor basil garden for a few years, and this is maybe a sign I should go for it. This sounds lovely.

Being able to sign in to multiple accounts at once is a similar thing for me. And yet, in classic AWS fashion, it’s still limited to 5 accounts or whatever.
The orange arrow giveth, the orange arrow… imposes weird limitations that make you scratch your head.
…about measles exposure of course. Parents also not allowed in the building before they call to check in, also like earlier with COVID. We’re hoping we can get our younger kid their second dose of the vaccine soon but otherwise have avoided going there since the outbreak began.
We live about an hour from the South Carolina county that is central in their rent outbreak, and our pediatrician now has us answer COVID-style exposure / symptom surveys before every visit.
As a fellow WNC resident: hoping you & yours fare OK in the storm!
Sincerely hoping this design can become your “blinking white guy” moment. It’s fantastic.
I have had... less success telling an LLM to modify an existing application to implement new business logic. (Granted, I haven't tried this much.)
I use LLMs much more these days for throwaway work. Recently, I needed a sample application to demonstrate authentication with an API using 3-legged oauth2, and prompting to get it was overall a success.
Part of me supports the idea that LLMs lower the cachet of "code" as an object of reverence, a mark against the pretension of "code as poetry." But I still struggle with the idea that all software engineers need evidently to reshape our whole worldview around "but what does the LLM 'think'"?

Hello from Henderson County NC—I am among your recent subscribers, thanks to The Algorithm. Thanks for your videos! Truly important & useful messages in them.
Laughed that our corporate net nanny software gave me an "are you sure you want to visit this website??" interstitial before I got to the page. Super useful!
Our kids’ daycare provider is closed just about 2.5 weeks in December and I am dreading it. I figure that they will enjoy it, but it’s going to be an exhausting month!
Thanks for this! Thinking of ideas for next year. Our holiday meal is tomorrow, and I am stirring rice for risotto as I type this…
But what will we do without these Seasonal Takes!! We need to know where every Poster stands on everything!! Your favorite seasonal dish?? Someone out there thinks it’s shit!! Look at all this quality engagement!!
Dusting off my idea about using CodeCommit as an "oh shit" mirror for other repos...
My doctor’s office ran a clinic for current patients, and I was able to get mine about a month ago. Really grateful that they ran the clinic! Normally I would get them from a grocery store pharmacy but my wife found that staff around here might interpret the eligibility rules on their own.
I have lived in the southeast for coming up on three decades, and I haven’t gotten a taste for grits, but maybe this is worth a shot…….
When my mom purchased one of their baskets I am told it was a point of contention in my parents’ marriage. “It cost that much? Is it made of gold??”
My favorite is “this is the worst it will ever be,” like a literal deus ex machina is hiding just behind the next prompt
I have seen some Takes on the deprecation but "Ingress is a vehicle for extortion" is a new one.
Way to go!! Saw your post about finding this headboard, and just… way to go!!
I know they have their reasons for it, but I wish choosing a region in AWS weren’t such a commitment. Not impossible to move or work between them, but regions are a boundary their product suite only begrudgingly allows you to cross.
Finding myself in that odd situation where a multi-region architecture would make sense for this specific sort of outage, but it’s… probably not worth the cost to build and maintain given the relative rarity of these events
It’s been a long day of “hey, now *that* API call is failing too!”
Really marked some items on my bingo card: we’ve also got a health check taking down production
I'm never filing an access request again; all I need to do is say the magic words to the IAM team's laptops...
Cat sitting on my lap looking upward at my face. The cat’s canine teeth are barely visible on the corners of his mouth as he looks up at me. I am wearing a blue shirt depicting a steam engine train pulling a single car across a bridge, representing the Kinzua Bridge in Pennsylvania, USA.
Thankful for wireless headphones on video calls. This is how he tells me he wants to go out in his little catio.

One of our dogs has gone deaf enough that he no longer panics when the smoke alarms chirp at 2AM, and… sometimes I envy that.
