Biohackers and wellness influencers are pushing nicotine as part of their β€˜stacks’ As smoking rates fall in the U.S., startups and influencers are pushing the purported cognitive and health benefits of indulging in nicotine.

"Tech companies like Palantir now stock vending machines with nicotine pouches in the hopes of boosting their workers’ productivity."

The plaque was to be installed in 2023. Pelosi wasn't the Speaker then.

It's been on display in the Capitol rotunda since 1997 albeit without the inscription.

I like this one the best. The cobblestones present a nice contrast to the waves and mangroves

UPenn's dissertation guidelines require supervisor's name to be below the author's name on the abstract page. See page 7 in this PDF

That's crazy! When I visited in 2022, a fast food restaurant wanted my number even though I was paying in cash. Another restaurant wanted my number before they would seat me. Both found it hard to believe I didn't have an Indian phone number.

Agree with the other person, a case maybe one with a cover that folds over the screen would be good enough to protect the screen from scratches when in a bag or if dropped.

Are you getting the color? I love my old Kindle Voyage but eventually I will upgrade to an ereader with a color screen.

Has he really researched this? Or just cobbling together urban legends? This jain chicken is a joke. Another review mentions HMS Minden built in Bombay as the ship on which Key composed Star Spangled Banner. Also wrong. I thought he was a better historian than this.

A close up of a Christmas tree with ornaments

I've been getting Christmas tree ornaments from places I visit for the last few years! Not a lot so far but I'll get there! Here's a bit of the tree from last year showing Denmark, Canada and Puerto Rico.

In 1963 the US govt spent 2.5% GDP on research in America. This was on top of what business spent on research, and was not conflated with business "spending" on research by bundling in expenses like advertising into their research budgets.

That spike in 1963 has driven our economy for decades.

Agree with point about refocus on mission rather than growth. Especially with the coming "demographic cliff."

At the same time, I think a lot of departments could stand to cut down the number of PhDs they churn out. I don't think this will necessarily impact the quality of science.

Maybe NIC was doing a really bad job with email servers. I won't be surprised. But of course, kicking some nice govt. contracts to a "friend" of the party in power is probably another reason.
