The Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen. Only the towers remain. On 7 March 1945, troops from the 9th Armored Division reached the Rhine here and found it still standing. Every other bridge had been destroyed.
This weekβs feature follows the daring escape of a Blenheim pilot and his crew through enemy lines and the Belgian medical system during May 1940. Chaos, bravery, tragedy and death.

The German destroyer Z-33 under air attack by Beaufighters on 9 February 1945 at FΓΈrde Fjord, Norway.
The attack went badly and saw 9 of the attacking 31 attacking Beaufighters and one of the ten escorting mustangs, shot down.
The Germans lost no ships

As the Leipzig trials were carried out in Germany by Germans they did accept the βFollowing Ordersβ position
#otd 1942 the Second battle of the Java sea saw the loss of HMS Exeter (which had served at the River Plate against the Graf Spee) though most of her crew were rescued and made P.o.Ws by the Japanese.
The destroyers HMS Encounter and USS Pope were also lost.

#Otd 1914 HMAS AE1 was commissioned into the Royal Australian Navy as 1 of 2 of E-class submarines.
She transferred to Australia & took part in operations off German Neu Guinea in September 1914
