God, the ground of all being, of all the consciousness, life, and transcendent beauty with which the whole universe pulses, is Love.
"Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices."
-St. Teresa of Avila
I know "God" is a loaded term for some, but read "Love" there and we are on track.
I've heard that argument made often, but is it actually legally true? And do they have no legal duty to the interests of the customers, the employees, and the community? If not, that's screwed up and should be changed.
I liked chicken liver/gizzard growing up. I did not care for beef liver.
Does a board of directors have a legal duty to do this, or is this just the influence of Milton Friedman, et al, on our culture that they feel moral pressure to do it?
"Enforcement of this law also relies on individual reporting, in which an individual can accuse someone of not belonging in the space which will initiate an investigation and potential litigation by the Attorney General, where the accuser may receive financial compensation.
"...not designated for your legally defined sex, with a civil penalty of $1,000 and being criminally charged with a class B misdemeanor for repeat violations. Government entities are banned from having non-segregated private spaces, and are mandated to enforce sex segregation or face steep fines.
"This was vastly expanded to include sex segregation provisions to be applied to 'multiple-occupancy private space,' which includes spaces like restrooms, hospital rooms, dorm rooms, domestic violence shelters, and more. This law criminalizes using the spaces...
Per ACLU, here's what the law does:
"About SB 244: The original bill (HB 2426) required the state of Kansas to invalidate legally issued birth certificates and driverβs licenses to depict strictly someoneβs sex assigned at birth..."
www.aclukansas.org/press-releas...
"...however you want to characterize the law's provenance, there is no denying its abject cruelty. It was motivated by hatred and it is intended to inflict pain on a small minority simply for the sake of inflicting pain. It solves no actual problem facing the State of Kansas or its people."
"The new Kansas law harkens back to the Nuremberg laws of Nazi Germany which stripped people of rights, invalidated their identification documents, and set them up for criminalization and imprisonment. Of course, the Nuremberg Laws were directly inspired by America's Jim Crow laws..."
I did not realize how draconian the new Kansas law is toward trans people. The driver license is only the tip of the iceberg.

We were doing all that to get little drops of data. Now we're drinking from a fire hose.
No, I'm not taking it down. The "oh boy" was that I have a blog post older than two of my children.
oh boy.
Reminds me of this:

I still vividly remember Dr. David Kaplan telling my sophomore physics class what morons we were that we didn't even understand what calculus *was* and that we needed to know that to do physics rightly. It was one of the formative speeches I've received in my life. It was definitely indoctrination.
College isn't supposed to be a place where everyone's uneducated opinions are held to be valid.
I don't understand the "don't indoctrinate" part. Isn't that what college is--an expert in a field teaching you the ways of thinking in that field? Only when you understand the current ways are you able to have anything to offer about new ways. Chesterton's Fence, etc.
If it's a fully AI film, why doesn't he ask AI to come up with the plan for it? Seems like he's cheating already.
I'm so sorry, Graham

The GOP constantly bombards my elderly mother-in-law with fearmongering fundraising messages telling her the Democrats are going to take away her Social Security and Medicare and she needs to give money to them so they can protect her.
Their fundraising messaging is not exactly in line with voting.
"We are caught in an inescapable network of mutually, tied in a single garment of destiny. Strangely enough, I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be, and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be."

I read that at first as "AI" Michaels, as in Artificial Intelligence, but give it time, I'm sure that's coming, too
What's the point of being this unkind to our fellow human beings?
I'm currently reading Andrew Rillera's Lamb of the Free, which is making a lot of similar points about how we have misunderstood and misapplied the Levitical sacrifices and thus misunderstood Jesus.
