Super energized by student presentations in my Paul module today. A few who have yet to speak in class began participating after they presented their work. Also, each group found a way to riff on the first group's designation of the community in Corinth as Paul's 'problem child'! Love it

Starting a new thread to collect critical perspectives on AI, as they are articulated dozens of times every day and appear repeatedly on my timeline. I can't read everything right away, but if, like me, you want to stay up to date, then this might help a bit:

A brilliant weekend spent in Dublin @tcddublin.bsky.social for the Irish Biblical Association meeting. Great quality papers and discussion, and lots of time to chat to colleagues and make new connections. Proud to be a small part of an association who has been in action 60 years!

The book will form an excellent starting point for anyone new to the study of monasticism, but it also provides a treasure trove of information for those well-versed in the subject, who wish to branch out into other geographies or chronologies.
Louise Blanke
University of Edinburgh
Cambridge Elements do not get reviewed often (I guess the format is to blame) so I am even more chuffed to see Louise Blanke discussing Monasticism and the City in Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages for JMMS. Really honored by such kind words from a giant in our field!

Every so often I wonder if I'm overreacting for committing to no more US travel under the current regime
(I'm Canadian and usually go to a few conferences a year)
And then something else like this happens
Sorry folks, it's virtual talks only for the time being.
