I’ve just witnessed the design arm of the org I’m in effectively being stripped out due to AI. Possibly the most short sighted act I’ve witnessed in 15+ years of industry experience.

No matter where this phase of technological adoption takes us, we’ll always need people thinking and doing HCI - Human Computer Interaction.

The form might change, the skills required for it remain, while adapting and expanding with it.

Things might start getting weird.*

* Mileage may vary

It’s the other announcement around replacing 1m workers with automation and robots that concerns me.
Amazon spent the past decade with various campaigns on how they invest in their people.
Scrubbing out 1m that they already underpay, isn't that.
It’s all bottom line and shareholder returns.

AI companies publishing their own economic impact reports is like having pharmaceutical companies being the sole researchers on their drugs effectiveness.

But then you have someone like Obama saying this: “you just won't need a coder because the computer or the machine will do it itself”

Ignorance is everywhere, at every angle. It’s either over or under played. I want to see a middle ground take that’s based in reality, just once.

Obama: “you just won't need a coder because the computer or the machine will do it itself”

What a fucking idiot. I’m sorry, but I’m not sure Olama over there knows how any of this works.

More top level influential people not just buying, but selling the oil. Pretty sure they’re smoking it too.

"So it may be that everybody, not just blue-collar workers, not just factory workers, are going to have to figure out, where do I get a job? How do I get enough income to feed my family?"

Sounds like an ex president doesn’t see gov intervention as a thing. It’s a you problem. Now give me that IP!

Those foundations mean more peatland being dug up. This releases CO2 back into the atmosphere and removes that natural carbon sinks at the same time.

For the sake of producing renewable energy, this all seems counter intuitive.

Scout Moor has given enough already. Time to find somewhere else.

Scout Moor is a beautiful spot, its surrounding areas are great for outdoor activities and there’s plenty of moorland wildlife.

It’s already given up some its land for an existing wind farm. The planned farm requires much larger turbines which requires much larger foundations.

Scout Moor 2 Wind Farm, sold as an expansion of renewable energy the country needs, but decimates peatland and ecosystems.

I’m for renewables, but not at the cost of removing natural carbon sinks, regardless of the small impact it has.

It’s natural and does it for free.

Don’t fuck with that.

Say you highlight or question something, and you do it on LinkedIn. Someone inevitably drops in on the comments. “I’ve got the answer, PM…”

To those that do. Stop gatekeeping mediocrity, it’s likely the wrong answer. We’re not solving mysteries of the universe.

I’ve defo set myself up here 😂

After my 3rd MRI, here’s what I’ve learned:

🚫🤘🚫 No metal.
🚫🕺🚫 Don’t move.
📣 It’s loud. Ear plugs + headphones = essential.
🧘‍♂️ Good time to practice meditation.
🎧 Like being trapped inside a 90s industrial techno track.
🎶 Sample the sequences an MRI can go through — you’d have an EP in no time.

Making decisions based solely on frameworks is a mistake.

Crushing them dev challenges, often made by themselves, from their lack of knowledge or understanding.

Labour just aren’t Labour anymore.

We’ve got a two tiered Conservative Party instead. A center right wearing red and slightly more to the right wearing blue.

Then we have a far right Farage and his set of nobblers.

This isn’t choice.

AI should replace some work of civil servants, Starmer to announce The new digital ‘mantra’ prompts unions to warn PM to stop blaming problems on Whitehall officials

He absolutely loves being sold snake oil.
LOVES IT.
The more I hear Starmer and his cabinet talk about tech and AI, the more I realise how little they understand it.
