Obama: Every day you wake up to things you just didnβt think were possible. Each day weβre told by those in high office to fear each other. Everywhere we see greed and bigotry being celebrated, and bullying and mockery masquerading as strength.
The Mile High Club has lost its two most prominent members.
SAD!!!!
A win! Glad they didnβt cave. Senate Democrats blocked a spending bill to reopen the Department of Homeland Security for a third time, insisting they would not approve the measure without new limits on immigration enforcement.

The Embodiment of Me The giraffe cannot help being graceful. The venus fly trap cannot help being lethal. The sun cannot help being radiant. And I cannot help being Katie. Even in my sleep, I dream of mountain streams. Even in my sadness, I love my heart. I swim in the rivers of my mind. I climb through the mountains of my past. I travel for years and years. And on the other side is Katie, beautiful Katie, my spirited body dancing in the sun.
For my dissertation, I am doing an arts-based study with early childhood educators, and we are exploring poetry prompts this week. I used a book of poetry prompts by Joseph Fasano, and here is the one I filled out that is the Self-Acceptance Poetry Prompt:
Of course he is. They seem to be inseparable. Good buddies and colleagues have to stick together. Share a blanket. Collaborate and commisserate. That kind of stuff.
Very strong statement from the First Lady of Iraq:
Pause for a moment, and read....

Markwayne Mullin has to get confirmed by the Senate Homeland Security Committee, which is chaired by Rand Paul, who Markwayne Mullin recently called a βsnakeβ & said he sympathized with Rand Paulβs neighbor who beat him up.
Kristi Noem has done a stunning amount of damage and itβs good sheβs gone.
But this doesnβt change the fact that we need a complete overhaul of DHS, impartial investigations into the killings of two American citizens, and information on children that were taken from Minnesota.
Im a gorgeous orange fancy goldfish with luxuriously long fins and tail. Im filling in for Gilbert.
I'm Gilbert's big brother. He took a sabbatical while the dog feed became ablaze with politics - he'ssensitive. I, on the otherfin, swim back and forth in front of cable news all day, so I understandyour frustration. -Sydney #dogsofbluesky #fishofbluesky #fancygoldfish
The Woman Who Made a Goddess They say in a year when the weather forgot its manners and the crows argued with the wind, a woman sat alone at the edge of things and refused to pray to anyone elseβs god. The old gods had rules. The old gods had priests. The old gods asked for obedience and gave back silence. So she took the silence and broke it over her knee. She gathered the things no altar wanted a cracked mirror, a match that had already burned once, a deck of cards bent at the corners, and the stories people spit out when they said she was too much. These she placed in a circle. 1/3
Not perfect. Not holy. Just true. The wind came first, curious. Then the dark, leaning in like a conspirator. She spoke no ancient language, no temple tongue. She said only: If there must be a goddess, I will make her myself. And the world which had been waiting for someone brave enough tilted slightly on its axis. From the circle rose something laughing. Not gentle. Not kind. 2/3
Beautiful the way storms are beautiful when they split the sky open. Hair like tangled lightning. Eyes like dice thrown across eternity. βI am Chaos,β said the mirror, βand you made me.β The woman did not kneel. Instead she smiled the crooked smile of someone who had survived too much. βGood,β she said. βThen you know whose side youβre on.β They say since that night when things fall apart when the road disappears when the rules fail there is laughter in the wreckage. And sometimes, in the middle of ruin, a woman walks through the storm and remembers her claim she is the one who taught the chaos her name. 3/3

Raskin: We are fighting for American citizens, madam secretary, because your eyes agents shot them in the face and killed them and each person you see here represents 800,000 American citizens and you should know that as a former member of congress.
Donald Trump made trade threats against Spain during an Oval Office meeting with reporters and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. (ANDREW CABALLERO-REYNOLDS / AFP VIA GETTY IMAGES)
Trump: "Spain said we can't use their bases. We could use their bases if we want. We could just fly in and use it. Nobody is gonna tell us not to use it"
Not receiving consent and moving forward anyway is a consistent theme in his life β as E. Jean Carroll can attest

MicroFiction for AmpersandAfterDark Prompt from @madp03t.bsky.social Almost Through I spend most evenings reading. Lamp on, chair angled toward the window, the soft hush of pages. I like knowing someone is there on the other side, moving their eyes where I guide them. Most skim. You didnβt. You lingered. You underlined me. You pause where I intend. You breathe where I leave space. Iβve begun to anticipate you. When you turn a page, something shifts here. The margins widen. The air grows warmer. I feel the pressure of your thumb along my spine. Last night, a crease appeared in the corner before you folded it. When you close the book, the room narrows. Open me again. I am almost through
