How to settle parking space disputes properly:
๐คโก This is NZโs newest electric ferry - and I went where nobody's allowed! ๐
From the bridge to the batteries - even the Hamilton jets - we go behind the scenes of this 200 person, battery-powered beast - even using the country's FIRST MEGAWATT CHARGER!

This parking space hogger tried to reserve a space by standing it in. Lol. Nice try. Dude in the electric car with self-parking has seen that move before... ๐

Testing has revealed an issue with the new XPENG G6: the lack of glovebox means the vehicle's PSC is limited to 58. I've reached out to XPENG's design team for comment.
Also, looks like new neighbours are moving in but I don't recognise that blue vehicle in their driveway. Anyone know the model?
Carbon footprint aside, I lived in the USA for 3 years and all the butter there tastes like chemicals. NZ butter tastes like butter.
I thought I was happy with my cellular internet router. I found the speeds to be just fine for most things. I've used it happily for 3 years... until now... I'm getting amazing speeds. Impressive for a house in rural NZ.
It's quite neat. :)
I freaking love this new feature. No more apps and RFID. Everything's automatic.
Rapid charging an electric car in NZ is now as easy as plugging in your phone and SOOOO much easier than having to buy petrol. ๐
The cover's off! This is the BYD Seal 6 Touring and I was the first reviewer to drive it on the open road.
It's a plug-in hybrid station wagon with a pure electric range of 100 km and a combined range of 1500 km.
No word on pricing, other than it'll be good. Expect somewhere between $40-55 k.
Heard the price of fuel is going up so I'm stockpiling sunshine. ๐
Full Self Driving has made it to Florida.
What a fascinating video. If you are Gen X like me, then you'll probably recognize a lot of patterns here. And if you're working with Gen X employees, It will make sense of everything. ๐
youtu.be/G5YmIqYSqA0?...
BYD are unveiling ANOTHER new car to the NZ market. What's intriguing though is the shape. Am I losing my mind or does that look like a station wagon? ๐ค Guess we'll find out in a few seconds.
That range seems a bit optimistic for a 15 year old Nissan Leaf.
Mind you, it's had BBS (Battery Bypass Surgery) about six years ago...
Would like to drain it completely flat to see what its range REALLY is. Lots of learning in store with this car. Should be fun!
Just spotted this hedge outside a house in Auckland while on the bus. I'm not a trained plantologist but it looks special. ๐ค
Giving the Tesla a final wash. Huge thanks to Greg for letting me use so long. Saved me thousands in unburned petrol & tons of carbon not released. Handing it back soon as my 15-year-old Nissan Leaf will be my daily driver. I'm doing this because I feel like I could use more character development. ๐
I attempted to record a teaser at 175 kmh and it went as smoothly as you'd expect. ๐
This is in the new Dongfeng 007 Performance.
๐ $59,990 NZD ($36k USD)
๐ 389 km per charge (241 miles)
๐ 400 kW / 640 Nm (536 hp / 472.5 things)
๐ฅ Refrigerated glovebox for chilled spuds.
Full review coming soon.
Sadly, the Cupra Tavascan VZ has let me down with its PSC, holding only 55 potatoes. Turns out this high performance electric vehicle suffers from Strangely Microscopic European Glovebox syndrome (SMEG), resulting in reduced driver tuber access. I've reached out to Cupra for comment.
It's here at last! Check out my new wheels!
I am now the proud owner of New Zealand's FIRST EVER registered Nissan Leaf. This car is a pioneer! Not bad for $1000 huh?
Just need to get this 15 year old Leaf home now... Might take a while...๐
I'm not a qualified storageologist, so when I saw a 4TB USB stick for $10 on AliExpress, I bought it, knowing it was likely gonna end in an anecdote.
Well, fast forward to today.
It lasted almost 30 seconds before bricking so I took it apart and it's just a card reader with a MicroSD card. ๐
Testing has revealed the Cupra Tavascan to have a TSS of 2. ๐ฅ๐ฅ

If you haven't seen it, the official launch a few days ago on Waiheke Island was amusing: youtu.be/-jRJ1da83rg?...
Quite different that's for sure ๐
Hope everyone enjoyed Friday's video of the Atto 1 launch. A very different behind the scenes approach to a car launch video. If you haven't seen it, check ๐
This week I've got the Cupra Tavascan VZ in my driveway, as I'm trying to answer the age-old question of whether an electric car has a soul?
Ohhhhh I ate it already.
Here's a behind the scenes look at the BYD Atto 1 launch with me and Rog from The Rock. What a radio voice the dude's got!๐๏ธ
And yes, of course we got lost...

I believe that's the term for when the clutch inevitablely claps out and you have to take the last 2 miles on foot.

I can promise you with absolute certainty that watching a video of yourself is much, much worse.
Things are happening! Picked up the battery box base from the fabricator! Let's get that bloody Austin Allegro running on electrons! ๐
