And I’ve had some lovely and interesting conversations with people. So I’m always super glad I’ve done it afterwards, and feel real buzzy. Which’ll be that Hope thing that I’ve been reacquainted with in recent months and it feels damn good.

Painter and printmaker. Picture framer. Queer af. Autistic and ADHD. Into abstract art stuff, Agnes Martin, science fiction, science fact, Cold War espionage, Golden Age and hard-boiled crime fiction. This IS my happy face.

I’m not going to pretend that leafleting and door knocking is easy for me because it takes me, an introverted autistic with social awkwardness and anxiety issues, soooo far out of my comfort zone. But my experience to date is that people, even the ones who don’t want to engage, are really nice.
But hey, if I’m gonna accidentally be channelling anyone it may as well be the person who inspired me to get politically active in the first place.
Me, modelling the campaigning coat
Early starts on Saturdays for me but I’m not going to work today, I’m taking part in another Green Party action day instead. See, I’ve got my Green Party badge and am wearing what Amy calls my campaigning coat on account of how, after I bought it, we realised it looks a bit like the one Zack wears.
Well this is rather lovely. And really interesting
Exactly. Incredibly frustrating
I’m not impartial because it’s my wife, but I would highly recommend The Squarepeg Podcast where Amy has conversations with late diagnosed autistic women. Patreons even get to hear her chat with me. Ikr… Anyway, that’s the end of the ad
‘The masking idea has no scientific basis’. Sure, it’s just the little matter of our actual lived experience but sure, you go off on your vibes Uta. And yes lots more women are being diagnosed later in life but that’s in large part because of gender stereotyping not because we were never there.
An illustrative piece in that it says the quiet part out loud: When you ask *who* is "wrongly" included in the autism spectrum, the response is almost always "women".
In other fields, this phenomenon of women being immediately dismissed, overlooked and underdiagnosed is called medical misogyny.
The @greenparty.org.uk MP @elliechowns.bsky.social had already tabled one first
Discovered the Open Space channel on YouTube and every episode is a tour around a stunningly beautiful mid century modern house and it is so calming. Would 10/10 recommend
The cat sitting next to me on my bed with a look of utter disdain on her face because I wouldn’t move over any further for her
The cat lying down on the bottom step of the stairs holding my James Elliot book that is hers now. Maybe she’ll let me borrow it when she’s finished reading it
The cat lying on one blanket and cwtched under another one. Her forearm (foreleg, whatever) draped over the top blanket, all casual like, while she listens to the sounds of her dinner being prepared in the kitchen (a tin of cat food being opened in a Michelin starred French accent)
Need a little breakette from politics scrolling for a bit? Me too. So check out my favourite photos of my cat from last month
Let’s get back to judging people/politicians by their character and their actions, not by which demographic boxes they may or may not tick.
Solidarity ✌🏽🙏🏽💚

Brilliant explainer
Absolutely 100% agree
I love the photos of these three. An incredible achievement and Hannah Spencer rightly looking so happy. And I know this is not the important bit but they are rockin’ those fits! They look so vibrant and so full of vim and vigour. Bloody brilliant!
A thread so good it earned a follow. This is the pep talk we all need today. 👇
This is exceptionally thoughtful and well said.
Going for the ‘let’s all go to war and rally around the flag’ option to try and stop voters abandoning you left and right now is it?
Tomorrow’s post: omelettes, breaking eggs, something, something, can’t ask for another medal for stopping a war if you’ve not yet started that war
And if you liked that, come back tomorrow for more not original and one day behind the times takes
Labour: we’re an island of strangers and need to be brought back together
Reform: non-whites need to integrate
Muslims: act in the interest of the whole community of which they’re a part and engage with the democratic process
Labour and Reform: NO, NOT LIKE THAT!
Just resumed listening to episode 4 of the Love Canal series of the American Scandal podcast and it picked up at ‘how much do these politicians think we’d put up with before we rebelled?’ and my listening choices have never felt more on point
Shit! In all the excitement I forgot I’m supposed to be getting ready for work
I do actually agree with the political commentators that you can’t extrapolate today’s result and assume that the greens will do well in the next general election, which is why we all need to get behind them and make damn sure the worst politicians lose their seats
SO all of this. I used to have some very small sympathy with the ‘change it from the inside’ position but it’s so abundantly clear that’s not possible now. Those good Labour folk, who genuinely are good, really need to honestly consider why they’re still with them, imo
This sounds like democracy to me and somebody needs to look into it smh
Hannah Spencer walking into Westminster, sucking her teeth, tutting, and muttering "tell you what, you've had some cowboys in here."
recognition of today; quote post with something #Green you've photographed
Chose this photo as it feels appropriately celebratory
