Giving social media another spin. Big ol' nerd, particularly for Transformers, Persona, and Like a Dragon/Yakuza.

I maintain that simply arresting Elon musk and making a real example of him is the quickest way to global stability

The original sketch of the Alien Facehugger, done in an almost comically simple style. First figure is an upright oval with a circle on the upper portion. Second figure the circle has popped off (indicated by an arrow) and a creature is launching out of the hole (indicated by another arrow). The creature looks like a circle with six thick curved legs and a cartoonist toothy frowny face.

I keep coming back to the original first draft Alien facehugger sketch. If you can start with that and end up with one of the most iconic designs in horror movie history, then there's no excuse for AI.

"you need to learn how to use gAI or you'll get left behind!"

counterpoint!

the absolute fastest way to render yourself unemployable is to build your skillset around a tool that does your thinking for you, that everyone has access to, and that one company can change or take away at any time

It actually kicks ass how much the people who run this site hate the people who use it. Just constant seething meltdowns over having to put up with a bunch of artists, furries, and trans people instead of crypto-hustlers and AI guys making Linkedin-tier posts. I'm glad they're miserable, frankly

I’m so tired of seeing people bash Bluesky for being an echo chamber when X is an actual intentionally constructed echo chamber that is demonstrably radicalizing people across the political spectrum who still use it

I cannot overstate the degree to which if we manage to wrest back control before they blow up the world there will need to be thousands of evangelicals in jail for deradicalization and to stop further incitement

man its so weird how appeasement doesn't work. fortunately there have been no historical examples of this that could have served as a guiding light to avoid it in the present

As the laid off Middle East News Editor, I concur. Management eliminated the positions of every single staff correspondent and bureau chief in the Middle East.

The '>Insert Genre< Movie' parodies that plagued the 2000's and early 2010's were the bane of my teenage movie-buff years. I can't go back.

AI does not "assist" translators, it just makes their work harder, brings down the quality, and impacts their pay. 😭

Just naked racism from Farage and the Mail.

The angle of "the Iran strikes are bad bc they didn't ask Congress for permission" reminds me of the Norm Macdonald bit about people saying "the hypocrisy" of Bill Cosby's actions was "the worst part." Macdonald:"I disagree. I think all the raping was the worst part."
