Out of Pocket Medical Care for Mom Goal of $8000 In the middle of Dec, mom was hospitalized for an intestinal infection. During that treatment doctors noticed a growth, so they tested to make sure. At New Year's Eve, my mom was diagnosed with cancer. She is starting her treatment this week and while she has health insurance, due to it being the beginning of the year, she has to pay a minimum out of pocket amount before it kicks in.
