Just had my first of 3 'executive coaching' sessions.
They weren't expecting someone so au fait with introspection, analysis, therapy, opening up...
Blew right past the corporate sheen to emotional insecurities, child self, foundational needs.
I won by a mile, looking forward to round 2!
A cartoon by Ron Cobb (1975), showing a shadow of US B-52 bomber above cratered landscape. Two people who look like Vietnamese peasants look up; one says βtheyβre having problems with their economy again.β
This is from 1975.
The public remembers Iraq. Why doesn't the press? By Martin Bright. Pictured: newspaper splashes about Iraq: Evening Standard: 45 Minutes From Attack, The Mail: Now Blair Delivers a Stinging Blow to PM Over War
Seven in 10 Britons are sceptical about UK involvement in Iran, but their newspapers have other ideas. Some of us recall the last time Fleet Street was so disastrously in favour of war, writes former Observer home affairs editor @martinbright.bsky.social

The tool, called HODIO (Spanish for Footprint of Hatred and Polarisation), will track the presence, spread, and impact of online hate speech as part of a broader oversight of SM platforms.
Results will be made public to show how platforms respond to harmful content.
View from a ski lift, across a piste with a dozen skiers, and a rocky mountain top behind.
A boy in full ski gear stands at the top of a piste with snowy mountains all around.
Heading home after 4 days of skiing with my 13yo. Back to school+work this afternoon.
So tempted to just sod it all and stay on this train to the Lake District or Edinburgh.
For those who care, we went by train, not plane, from Wales. #flightfree
Tell me how and why to change it, and provide the right people to help get it done.
15 hours on 8 trains to get to the piste without flying. Bloody hope we have a good time.
A window sticker across a train window
This seat's window sticker, obscuring the view from this seat's window, tells me there's a view from this seat's window.
An appointment is an activity. A healthier life is a result.
If we want to move the needle on climate or health, we have to stop measuring what we spent and start measuring the difference we made.

Real change is built through small, consistent acts:
β’ simplifying
β’ redesigning around users
β’ stopping what doesnβt work
On their own, they seem minor.
5 boardgame covers. Duel, survive, Clans of Caledonia, Dune Imperium Uprising, thunder road vendetta.
Want to play moooooore irl #boardgames. Feb had not enough.
π Next up: sharpen the plan for 26/27. Look at what more we can get and do with performance data. Keep building the case for doing things differently.

Compensated for suppressing emotions in favour of business gains.
Looking forward to @jukes.ie's session at the Product Manager community meetup tomorrow - 'We're supposed to work in the open. How's that going?'
Yes. Very hard, and possibly unnatural (like much of working life) not to have v emotional reactions. Which I suppose what's known as being professional.
When things go wonky at work, I shrivel, feel quiet and small, and yearn for just boardgames, sleep, booze and running a campsite. I'm not sure if that's resilient or not.
I bought Eathborne Rangers last night, second hand for Β£50. Hope it's unbelievably amazing! #boardgames
All with PhDs. Working around the clock.
It'd take a fleet of humans.
I want an AI to scan my work's calendars & reshuffle them so: priorities come first; blockers cleared; dependencies sequenced; time for prep/thinking/notes; overlaps merged; agendas + attendees improved.
We'd define objectives clearly and write proper descriptions to help the robots.
Lost Ruins Of Arnak, 6.9/10.
Lacks atmosphere, coherence and fun.
A weak imitation of Dune Imperium (which is an 8.3/10).
