They are really beautiful, and noisy (so many nesting birds)! I spent a lot of my childhood holidays there, so I took Bob there to show off all my haunts, and we watched the harbour cut into the basalt be swamped by the waves. 😅 The black basalt is really cool! 😃💜

The hare is decorated with leaves from a variety of amaranth called Joseph’s Coat; each leaf starts purple at the base, then fades into yellow, then green at the tips. The hare’s nose and tail are balls of amaranth seeds. (Amaranth is an ancient grain used by the Aztecs, among others.) The hare has their back to the viewer, with their head turned towards the viewer from the left side. Their ears are single amaranth leaves. The hare has been reworked with gel pens to smooth and intensify the colours, and I’m much happier with it. Hare reference: 19thC public domain prints.
