2026 will mark 30 years of DJing for me, and one thing I can say with confidence is that 60% of the DJs you see on the scene right now will be gone in 5 years and 95% in 10 years. It’s great that there aren’t many barriers to entry these days, but very few have what it takes to persist.

One example is the big room acid tech/trance that I hear in so many streaming sets and clips. I thought that stuff was great when it was new to me, but it only took a couple of years to start viewing it as embarrassing kids' music. I kept a couple of records, but most didn't stand the test of time

It certainly feels like that at times! It's also really hard to explain this to newcomers. Like, I know this track/dj/etc. sounds amazing to you right now, but once you've heard these same elements 10,000 times, you will see how completely lame and uninspired this is.

Spent this week enjoying our splendid Portland, Oregon weather, food, neighborhoods and culture. Everywhere I went by bike, on foot and by vehicle felt safe. We have out problems, like any other city, but the idea that Portland is ”war ravaged” is absurd to say the least.
