I've decided I'm moving all my nice posting over to my new account. It seems that as bluesky decends into American enshitifcation my leaving all my "you've been told too many fucking times" posting here makes sense.

I think it's ironic that the US and Israel will continue to conduct decpitation strikes in Iran until there's no one left but the dispossessed poor to run the country. I can think of two other countries that could do with such a top-down cleansing.

If I ever get the financial means I want a tiny cabin in the woods, no electricity or cell. There was a time when I had endless hours to read my books... One month twice a year would do me so much good fully isolated from the noise of modern life.

Canada's small population could actually give the Canadian trans lobby a stronger voice, if we were organized. We could do more, but we don't have the communbity focus for that. Purhaps things are a little too good for us.

I'm sure to some of the things I say my sound patronizing (red flag?), but if America falls apart, we will have refugees crossing the border, so at least thinking outside the "stay on your fucking side of the line" box is a good idea ;^)

The logistics of physically dividing an America that is culturally divided is a tricky problem. But, where necessity is the mother of invention, if things get worse in NA, then we can work something out.

Ya, the cultural differences between decent Americans and Canadians is really not that big. We teach them to say zed correctly, and we're on our way ;^)

Never say never. The reason Canada went from being industrious enough to stand on our own two feet, to being so beholden to the US, was the heroin of NAFTA. It was a shit idea then, and it's an even shittier idea now. We can compete by working with the EU and far east.

People come to Canada with credentials, then leave within a couple years for the states where they make more money. It's difficult to imagine a cultural project of remixing North Americansocial dynamics that cross both the Canadian and Mexican borders. And, it's even harder to imagine an NAU equivelent of the EU, but given how America is dividing down the cultural middle, those aspects of decency in America /4

With the ever increasing polarization of American culture, the stark differences between the "We, the people" Americans, and the "fuck everyone but me" Americans, may have grown to a point of no return. Unless someone with a magical cultural wand shows up, this divide will only get worse. /3

For obvious reasons most Canadians don't like the enshitamerification of Canadian culture, but with the ever increasing polarization in American culture, and the decreasing Canadian population, it looks like something on the Canadian side will have to give at some point. /2

I was just looking at tthe stats for Americans leaving the US and thinking about the looming spector of the Amerification of Canada. Now, the fear of American influence overtaking Canadian culture has been around long, long before me, and I remember it being palpable in the 80's. /1
