Yea. It's funny how it works differently for people often, and also lower amounts can sometimes have better effect. Would imagine eating a "sleep hormone" would be simple but nah 😅
Yep I don't think such a thing exists. I don't share same values with my neighbor. You can't really define a country's values when the country is made up of people many of whom have very different sets of values. It just doesn't simplify like that. America is not a person.
Just noting because it took me some time to figure this out, it just seemed it doesn't work at all. But there can be these different effects with sleep that it becomes easier to wake up at the right time etc. that are not immediately obvious.
It seems to work in this funky indirect way for me. It doesn't necassarily make me sleepier, but it seems to stabilize my sleeping rhythm and the sleep disorder I have becomes easier to manage if I take some bonus melatonin at the right time in the evening when it's acting up.

I think he has a point, we're in a phase where "AI" is being overused and stuffed into everything, and that just crashes to it's own impossibility when reality catches up. It will live as a tool that can do some things and sucks in others when things balance out.

So while everything MIGHT be deterministic and physical, there's still huge meaning in the emergent structures that are hopelessly too complex to explain starting from the fundamentals of that "physicality". If that makes sense, I'm ADHD af today so not at my best to express deep shit 😅
I think it gets into semantics, what's the definition of "physical"? I would think that way on some level, but there are levels of emergence and results of complexity that don't really care about whether things are labelled "physical" or not, and most of our meanings seem to live in such things.
Same vibes, especially as a parent. I can accept people have weird fantasies I don't understand, but that stuff, when it's obviously directed at *children*, is simply way beyond the line for me.
Of course there is probably a forbidden element to some that makes it interesting, breaking taboos, but that would be personal, the security stuff is the only GENERAL thing I could come up with.
As in, as much as I don't like the thought, I'd think it feels safe, familiar and secure to some, as opposed to an unknown person. Or that would be my first thought about it, it's not like I had really analyzed this in my head before you just dropped this in my feed awhile ago 😅
Off the top of my head, while I don't feel any of this, my guess would be that people are insanely insecure, especially about taboo things like sexuality. A sibling offers a "natural" connection to someone through family ties and probably feels less "insecure" than someone else? If that makes sense.
All countries are social systems that can do horrible things, entities above individual morality and such things. I don't get why some have a huge need to see them as "good" or "evil" like they were persons or something. It doesn't feel healthy to consider such entities that way. If that makes sense
