Amazing Tara, well done!!
I love stumbling across history. This is a WWII Starfish decoy control bunker, designed to create localised fires to fool enemy bombers targeting Swindon.Β Found it up by Liddington Iron Age hillfort, where King Arthur is said to have defeated the Anglo Saxon Armies!
THEY'RE HERE!! The Lancaster Story paperbacks have arrived ahead of the release on 22 May! I'm not going to lie, but the first thing I did after unpacking them was... sniff them.
Had a blast filming Who Do You Think You Are with the wonderful LaytonWilliams! What a treat to get to sit aboard one of the "Little Ships" and chat Dunkirk history! Catch us on BBC iPlayer to find out all the things...
I had a blast filming Who Do You Think You Are in Casablanca in Morocco, with the wonderful Ross Kemp! Catch up on BBC iplayer to find out what we chatted about! And when the camera wasnβt rolling, we chatted a lot about our native Norfolk - good times!!

VERY chuffed to have received my signed copy of βThe Invisible Campaignβ from the brilliant @lydiajane13.bsky.social!! Itβs an absolutely cracking book based on excellent research, and an extremely important and novel contribution to military history (and it has very sexy colour maps)
I am VERY excited to announce the launch of 'A Touch of History', which I will be presenting! Find out more @ the bottom of this page:

More info soon, but for now, here are some practical tips for flying in Spitfires.
Tip One:
Getting into model building means that things like buying 300 cotton buds brings you a lot more joy and excitement than it ever has beforeβ¦
What are some of the most useful tools/bits and bobs you use to build models?
Couldnβt decide so got both. Now I canβt decide againβ¦ which to build first π€
We found some amazing things while filming the new series of WWII: Secrets From Above for National Geographic and it was wonderful to explore and work with the lovely team at the Arctic Convoy Museum in the Highlands of Scotland! Catch me across the series, out now on
National Geographic TV
Filmed this BBC series in Liverpool last year, and itβs now out on BBC iplayer if youβre looking for some telly to watch! It was wonderful to film at the brilliant Western Approaches museum, and to demonstrate the work of the Western Approaches Tactical Unit!
And sheβs done - build no. 3 is complete! I do love a P-51. I have now built all the models I bought - need to buy a new one to work on. Thinking probably a Hurricane. Working my way up to the Lanc and B-17.
Catch me in the new series of WWII: Secrets From Above by National Geographic! Had a blast filming this series! Especially the eps at RAF museum, aboard HMS Belfast, and in the Highlands! I even managed a whole day of shooting with the drone without falling over or walking into a sheep!
Spent yesterday with the wonderful Royal Navy at Portsmouth, aboard HMS Queen Elizabeth II (aircraft carrier), HMS Duncan (type 45 destroyer) and HMS Ledbury (mine hunter). Also spent some time with the Wildcat maritime force. Brilliant people, amazing kit, best day! Love my job!
Generic βa TV show what I am in, is starting soonβ skeet. Great fun filming, a big thank you to Peter Monk and the team at Biggin Hill for their hospitality. Keep your eyes peeled for my compadre @sarahloumiller.bsky.social too

What a tremendous honour to be at IBCC yesterday for the unveiling of these beautiful silhouettes of women in war - deeply moving, and very important. Wonderful to join @lydiajane13.bsky.social, @claremulley.bsky.social & Jeannie Benjamin in conversation afterwards too. Brilliant work, @IntBCC
Chair Suzanne Raine, IBCC Trustee, Sarah-Louise Miller, Jane Gulliford-Lowes, Clare Mulley, and Jeannie Benjamin on chairs as the panel. Table with Jane's new book, The Invisible Campaign on it in the foreground.
Panel from the 'Writers of War' from the 'Women at War' book festival at the IBCC in Lincoln yesterday. A wizard session!
Jane's book is out now and it is a game changer for Bomber Command types. Get a copy folks! @lydiajane13.bsky.social @claremulley.bsky.social @sarahloumiller.bsky.social
The parents (because they are legends) picked this up for me at a Dutch antiques shop. Canβt stop looking at it!!
Itβs Friday night, and the tools are out, and Sarah has had a long day.
But itβs weekend now, and itβs modelling timeβ¦ so Frankie has come out to play.
My very clever uncle has written 'Bowieland', a book of walks that "uncover hidden layers, and make fresh connections to key Bowie stories, revealing influences conscious and subconscious". It is being launched 15 April - join us in Oxford at 5.30pm!

Build 1, build 2, and my next build (which Iβm itching to start but itβs a school night π). Will be my Revell kit. Loving this hobby so far!! Just need to get brave enough to attempt to paint the canopy frameβ¦
And sheβs done! Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat, flown by First Lieutenant James E. Swett, VMF-221, Marine Air Group 12, USMC, Henderson Field, Guadalcanal, 1943. Apt, because I was teaching on Guadalcanal while building it!
Wildcat progress. Definitely not perfect, but considering I had to take a scalpel to the wings to remove them (because like a doofus I put them on upside down) then reattach, it could be worse. Second build almost complete. Decals tomorrow. Loving learning!!
The paperback of my second book, The Lancaster Story, is due out soon - available for pre-order at Waterstones! I do love paperbacks - easier to lug around in your backpack.
Right, be honest. Raise your hand if youβve ever stuck a part on, let the glue dry, and then realised itβs incorrectly placed and had to take a precision cutting tool to it to correct it. My hand is raised - a wing, of all thingsβ¦ placed upside down while trying to multitaskβ¦
