Itβs certainly going to benefit the c-suites (and shareholders), and create layoffs and agency brand consolidation. That said it will only strengthen the market for independent, smaller, and more innovative offerings. This is a 1+1 =1.5 for the holdco model but much more dynamism outside.
Given the regulatory hurdles, this will still take a while. Long enough to let everyone else focus while they are bogged down in details. Also, are we thinking merger, or really an Omnicom takeover?
Remember when Publicis and Omnicom did this dance and it distracted them for 12 months, collapsed due to ego, and gave everyone else the chance to get ahead?
