New horrors on the way for trans adults in the UK... (When they did a similar review for trans teens, they threw out 97% of all studies and then basically went "wow, there's not any research to demonstrate this if effective; guess we gotta ban it.") Now it looks like they're doing same for adults.

🚨 WATCH: Labour MP Charlotte Nichols reveals she was raped as an MP as she opposes the jury trial reforms

"I waited 1,088 days to go to court. We've been told [by the Government] that if we have concerns about this Bill, it's because we've not been raped"

worth remembering, David Lynch directed β€œfix your hearts or die” specifically at transphobes. it wasn’t a generic β€œno mean people allowed” statement, it was said by his Twin Peaks character in defense of a trans woman he cared for and deeply respected.

we keep operating like trump flipped some kind of switch to make the gop more misogynistic and racist but this path has been clear since the 50s. you dont get here without goldwater, reagan, nixon, the bushes and mccain/romney. trump didnt come out of nowhere. the monster was always there.

this is a mythology many democrats unfortunately embrace. when mccain "defended" obama he literally said "he's a decent family man ... he's not an arab." mccain also picked palin as his vp nominee and spent his whole career rhapsodizing about bombing brown people and being corrupt.

β€˜Age Verification’ could force trans people to out themselves to use the internet Automated online ID checking systems add new potential dangers to having a mismatching ID.

Must read from @janus.bsky.social about how β€œage verification” laws are paving the way for the online version of what just happened to trans people in Kansas (gift link!) www.theverge.com/policy/89207...

will remember jay as the person who deleted lexi alexander and link, worked hard to cut palestinians off from their one chance at survival, ignored the ongoing abuse of Black and trans users, and then when confronted about the whole thing said 'waffles'. and for that fugly no caesars shirt.

In a field as competitive as frontier AI, this feedback loop if allowed to persist
could result in harm well beyond the immediate consequences of the government's actions.
Training and serving frontier-level models like Claude requires extraordinary computational resources. Anthropic has already spent over $10 billion on model training and inference (serving the model to end users) and expects to spend many billions more in the coming years. Although the company has generated substantial revenue since entering the commercial market exceeding $5 billion to dateβ€”it has nonetheless had to raise more than $60 billion in outside capital to fund its operations. Anthropic has raised this capital by issuing investors equity stakes in the company.

Based on their lawsuit filed against the DoD, Anthropic appears to be admitting that reports about its revenue and costs are fake, saying its revenue to date β€œexceeds $5bn” and training/inference β€œover $10bn.” Previous reports said $4.5bn.

I think the truth is that Anthropic likely misled reporters about its previous years’ revenues through deceptive leaks. I would guess 2025’s revenues were lower than $4.5bn and the majority of the remaining $500m is from 2026. This is an absolute scandal.

The inference costs are in addition to costs from training the models. Anthropic last month expected its costs for training its AI models for 2025 to be roughly $4.1 billion, up roughly 5% from its summer
projections. OpenAI, meanwhile, expected to spend $9.4 billion on compute for training its Al models last year.

Reports had previously said Anthropic made $4.5bn in 2025 on $2.79bn of inference and $4.1bn of training.

This would mean it made $500m total in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2026 so far combined.

9. The same legal teamβ€”Advocates for Trans Equality and Cohen Milsteinβ€”successfully challenged Aetna's categorical exclusion of breast augmentation for transgender women in 2021, resulting in a settlement that changed the insurer's general policy.

Federal Judge Rules Aetna's Blanket Denial Of Facial Surgery For Trans Women Is Sex Discrimination The landmark ruling could lead to broader FFS coverage in the future.

1. Big ruling out of Connecticut. A federal judge has ruled that blanket denials for FFS violate the affordable care act.

Though it only applies to two plaintiffs, class certification is pending, and it will provide strong legal rationale for challenges.

We're talking policies on trans medicine written by health care regulators who spend their personal time trolling trans people online and being openly abusive and antagonistic. Total capture of the senior level of a minority's support infrastructure by a handful of cranks who hate that minority.

The basic tools of military action are things that would be horrorific crimes in civilian life. A war crime is an act so egregious that it stands out against that background. Somehow we never have that conversation honestly before we go to war.

A war is not when you just kill bad people, it's when a whole society commits to imposing it's will through violence on another. Burning men alive and blowing them to pieces with the knowledge that innocents will die along with them is normal in war.

Various pro-war arguments of the form "Did you know the Iranian government is very bad actually!???" betray a Marvel film level understanding of international relation (tbh probably _less_ sophisticated than the better of them!) and are a painful reminder that journalists learned nothing from Iraq.

The White House shitter account posted a pro-iran war propaganda video that included clips of the yugioh anime, so I figure this is a good time to remind everyone that Kazuki Takahashi was staunchly anti-war and he died a hero, unlike any american in Iran right now.
