The Day We Met: Chapter 4, Page 36
Watercolor painting on paper showing two tall buildings split by a row of indistinct trees. The building in the foreground has a tin sheet held aloft by rusty i-beams, serving as an awning for a bottom floor porch. Above the awning is an exterior overlook. The building in the background barely emerges over the tops of the trees.

Comparative anatomy illustration showing different mammal species bones where all the knees point in the same direction, as they always have. Taken from the paper "Comparative anatomy and morphology of the knee in translational models for articular cartilage disorders. Part I: Large animals"
Comparative anatomist expert witness at the Furries v. Subscribestar trials:
Your honor, as exhibit A clearly demonstrates, all mammals have "human-like knee orientation." It is only the relative proportions of the limb segments that change.

Watercolor painting on paper showing a smallish bar at night. Along its flat roof, several neon signs gently glow: an arrow pointing down to the establishment's lengthy side window, a martini glass, and the name of the restaurant: Park Place. A tree in the foreground covers the rightmost portion of the building, and a traditional pride flag hangs loosely from a small pole near the sign for the bar's title.

The only thing that saves me specifically is the fact that my husband works in local government. If it weren't for him, I might have no way of receiving this information in time to schedule work hours off.
I'm discovering why local / state elections are so hard to participate in, because we ostensibly are gearing up for primaries, and there is no information available anywhere yet about election dates.
Like...we're at most two months out, but the only thing I can look up is my polling location.
The older I get, the more I look at dirty puddles and think "that's where it's at babyyyyyyyy"
By the time I'm in the old folks' home, I'm gonna be a menace for the nurses.
Watercolor painting on paper of two tall buildings along a small town downtown road. The road is lined by trees and bushes, and the building in the foreground has a painted side that has begun peeling, revealing dirty brick underneath. An indistinct advertisement runs across the top of the wall just beneath an AC unit.

Watercolor painting on paper of a condo on a riverwalk. Powerlines criss-cross above and behind the short building, whose steps down to the river pass through dense bush cover. In the background, several other buildings frame the condo's edge, including a tall apartment structure with a deep overhanging roof.
Watercolor painting on paper of a snowy mountain road next to a steep decline into a wide valley. There is a single red vehicle traveling down the road, passing between the pines which break to reveal a long stretch of land at the foot of another mountain in the distance.

In the words of my husband (to a hypothetical religious person):
"The problem you have is that I believed you when you said to be kind and to treat people well. However, you clearly don't believe yourself."
Ironic as a queer person that my religious trauma actually has nothing to do with my being queer.
We had a sermon about the moral justifications for nuking the Middle East.
Because I can tell you all sorts of mechanisms for ensuring that doesn't happen, but I can't think of a single one that ensures it does.
Which isn't to say we should operate under the assumption of inevitability here, but you gotta at least acknowledge it's among the cards.
