Maybe if we had invested in (or were currently building out) our rail network. Electrifying transport and industry and investing in clean renewable energy this would be less of a problem. π

Maybe they are trying to prove their own point by acting stupid? π€
Good thread
Govt donβt want to go looking for the billionaires wealth because itβs hard. Check out the rest of Barryβs videos too! They are all fantastic! He explains things in easy to understand metaphors!

Why itβs important to change to a different voting system like MMP and/or ranked choice voting to reduce the chance of this happening
Oh yes, I would love it if they explored some open source alternatives and discussed their thoughts on how it compares to what the currently use and whether they would consider switching or not. Could still tie into Apple stuff.
I also suggested they read chokepoint capitalism as a book club bonus.
Most of the non-Apple content is more interesting than covering a rumour about a possible Apple Product.
π― I wonβt be buying anything Apple too for the foreseeable future until things change.
I think they already cover a decent amount of non-Apple content already though right?

Clearly they should have driven up to and over the pedestrian crossing so this tragedy could have been avoided. /s
Glad to hear no one was hurt π
βApologies for any disruption to your journeyβ.
couple surrounded by cars complaining about two e-scooters - classic example of car blindness
Itβs been a years since I used one but I remember having to take a photo of the scooter when finished to show I had properly parked it where it wasnβt obstructing the footpath.
What about providing parking bays on the road? A bit of road space currently been wasted to store personal property could instead be used for public good and keep scooters off the pavement so it doesnβt block access for pedestrians.
AND also fine the shit out of users who donβt park it properly.

time for a repost of this classic
There's never the same amount of handwringing about car parking "chaos" is there?

Maybe we as a collective humanity should have a say over how this technology is used rather than the oligarchs current running the world
Remember. Apple capitulated and bribed the orange buffoon in the White House responsible for the current ICE raids and other awful stuff.
Graphic showing a busy urban arterial clogged with cars and trucks. The text says that car dependency does not equal freedom. Mobility freedom comes from mobility choices. The image is tagged with the Urban Truth Collective logo.
They still want us to think cars equal freedom. But car DEPENDENCY is the opposite of freedom.
Mobility freedom comes from mobility choices.

Likely they would have preferred not to even listen to submissions if they could get away with itβ¦
Again this govt with claiming people on welfare are sucking money out of the system. While rentiers continue to get richer and richer squeezing everyone else while they get tax break after tax break from the βwealthy and sortedβ politicians.
Also shameful the law being rushed through again.
Why though. Why donβt you trust them?
Image with heading We want your feedback on 5 proposed changes to the riad rules. There are pictures of a bus, car, scooter and bikes.
At last! Proposals include...
β’ allow children 12 years and under to ride bikes on footpaths
β’ set a min passing gap for drivers passing other types of road users
β’ allow e-scooters in cycle lanes
β’ require drivers to give way to buses leaving bus stops
Closes 25 March

Love this comparison.
It has occurred to me that the optimal level of marketing for my podcast Volts, upon which my family's entire income depends, might be higher than its current level of zero.
I use an app, it syncs with my wife so we can both add things. You can use voice commands to add things while your hands are full cooking. Or do it manually.
Honestly if you use a physical list nothing wrong with that, just donβt sh*t on the people who find an app more convenient.
"I'm not an anti-car guy. I'm an anti-car-dependency guy. We can't keep planning cities and regions where the car is the only choice, because that may seem like freedom to some but it's kind of the opposite. Dependency is never freedom.β β @brenttoderian.bsky.social. #UrbanTruth
No, thanks for trying though. Video not available in my country. I managed to find one that was, though just snippets. Still was amazing π€©
