I've worked with pygmies and I've encountered one in the wild in FL. Very cool little snakes. Their rattle is barely audible and sounds like the wing beats of a bumblebee. I've only seen massasauga in zoos. We have easterns here in NY, but only in two small isolated populations.

I'm jealous. I'm too far north for them.

Most snakes are a lot more intelligent than people give them credit for.

Pygmy rattlesnake?

They're pretty docile. They just hang out in the water pretending to be leaves.

This is probably one of the coolest reptiles. The tentacled snake is an aquatic southeast Asia native. It uses its tentacles to sense prey.

They're pretty much harmless.

I love furry critters, too. But I also love scaley, slimy, and creepy crawly creatures. They're all fascinating.

This might be the most metal beetle I've ever seen.

Gaboon viper, I believe. Or possibly a rhino viper. They're in the same genus.

Very cool. The world needs more entomologists, especially ones with a conservation mindset.
