A new year brings with it a new commitment to using @obsidian.md for all my writing needs. Grateful for any advice.

Today I deactivated my X account. I thought about hyperventilating for a few seconds, then came to my senses. This is what freedom feels like.
Why's that?
Yes, I've dabbled! Currently a few days into a trial and using it as much as I can. Thanks for your reply.
@neuranne.bsky.social I think I might be about to commit to using Roam after years of messing about with other apps. I know you're a long-term user of it - is there anything you can say, or advice you could give, which might tip me over the edge??
Day off
Do not disturb on
Listening to post-rock music is helping me process my inner depths. Sounds fun, no? Do you have any post-rock recs for me??

A late night isn't that bad, really
I wonder when my IRL contacts are going to finally join Bluesky so I can leave and try Mastodon instead.
Just had the revelation that journaling is good for me when it's not first thing in the morning.
Bob Doto! Thanks! :)
Totally agree. I've been lost in tools for too long, I don't have a proper system in place!
Yes, very much so. I've also read much of Bob Doto's latest book. I've spent too many years looking for a "perfect" system or app, which is why I feel the need to step back and revert to paper and simplicity.
I need a note making strategy. I'm thinking journaling and quick through-the-day notes in a paper journal, then transfer more permanent notes and things I need to action into Obsidian or another online tool. But paper journaling must be central.
I want the internet to go away so I use paper and pen and not be distracted away from it.
Wondering if I should buy a posh new journal, or a pair of Converse.
I checked it out. ยฃยฃยฃ!!!
I'll have to check it out
It is good, the pages are lovely. But I find the squares too small for my writing (I've read that your writing is tiny though so you'll be ok!).
Will it work for lefties? I currently use a Schneider ID.
Awesome. I've considered a hob in the past. Currently writing very erratically in a bright yellow Stalogy 365 notebook, it's lovely but not overly practical.
What? This is crazy! Thanks for the tip. Is that CTRL-ALT-s-v?
The Dave who got up earlier is always having a better time than the one who got up late.
Mordechai by Khruangbin is one of my all time favourite albums.

Org Mode means I look forward to taking notes and organising my life. Weird.
It's just a lot more fun and things flow better over here.
Enjoying highlighting and annotating PDFs in Org Mode. I can open a PDF and my notes in split screen. So useful and so easy. #orgmode #emacs
It's helped me with the basics of getting up and running. Nothing advanced.
Just getting to grips with it with the help of ai...
