Huffpost headline: Rachel Reeves Launches Her Strongest Attack On Brexit Amid Gloomy Economic Numbers The chancellor vowed to "break down trade barriers" between the UK and EU. By Kevin Schofield

In the light of recent UKG prnouncements on getting close to Europe, useful to remind ourselves of what the *real* UK redlines are:

a) Maintain "nostalgic" trade deals with Oz & NZ
b) Keep the City of London outside of European law
c) No free movement of people (at least nothing called FoM)

Hasn’t Trump just created a new refuge crisis for Europe while radicalising a load of new people?

Is this the right takeaway from this current mess?

For example.....

"We're not an island of strangers
- we're an island of neighbours"

It is stunning how all of the groups mentioned by Ross, along with Ross herself don't get this.

Migration is part of what makes this country great.

We're not an island of strangers - we're an island of neighbours.

The Green Party will always support fair & managed migration.

British in Europe (@britishineurope.bsky.social) The largest coalition group of UK citizens in EU27/EEA/Switzerland campaigning for citizens' rights, focussing on voting rights & the implementation of the EU-UK Withdrawal Agreement www.britishineuro...

Ross Taylor mentions lots of groups who don't actually like FoM while failing to mention the two groups who represented the people most affected.

There lies the main issue.
You left out our friends, partners and neighbours!

I was just thinking that actually.
An AI bot would be able to use all available evidence in order to identify that in order to 'stop Farage' people should vote Green within English, non LibDem seats.

I attempted to shortcut the process by attending a private GP for Β£140 to process the initial consultation and provide a letter to my NHS doctor but my NHS doctor cancelled me off their list due to lack of activity so now I’m stuck 🀣πŸ€ͺ

Here in the UK at a good NHS doctor in Scotland I can make an appointment for about a weeks time.

A bad NHS will only have appointments on the same day, which are impossible to arrange because the phone is busy πŸ€ͺπŸ™ƒ

A Bupa private GP is Β£140 for half an hour.

The UK is not close

Until the UK wishes to engage and show commitment to European institutions and values nothing meaningful will happen and it is year ten of me saying this type of thing!

The easiest thing would be open support and a wish for FoM

Instead we have more cherry picking from govt.

This issue was one of the warnings from the experts before the 2016 referendum

I know that listening and learning from experts isn’t the thing for Brexit supporters but this is now reality.

She could always decide to, you know, govern πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

Labour government’s aren’t put into power to do nothing.

They do have the full power of the state.

If they wanted to curb the press then you do know they can do that with #Leveson2 πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

Blaming the press and doing nothing is not good governance.

I am not used to that response.

Dear British journalists, when talking to politicians of parties that want to make big changes to the way current and future foreign residents are to be treated, I wish you would go further than the big claims and policy announcements.

01.03.2026 11:54 πŸ‘ 40 πŸ” 8 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 1

Both FoM and customs are required for your party policy for UK touring bands.

You will never be able to deliver your policy because you prefer treaty changes instead of FoM.

I am so through with lying politicians.

01.03.2026 10:23 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

One of your policies as a political party is band touring.

However, you have no ability to be able to provide such a policy, even if there was a LibDem government.

This is the same position as Blue Labour and you are not being honest with people.

01.03.2026 10:15 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Oh, this is the same argument as the far right now.
That did not take long.

Why is a LibDem member using a far right argument for 'defending democracy' and the right to trash people, SMEs and deport foreigners - all while being unable to propose meaningful steps towards their own policies?

01.03.2026 10:12 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

The LibDems are my natural home now the Tories are dead.

I thought the LibDems would be educating so that people understand but they don’t seem to want to do so and nobody else is. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

Farming is full of people wanting issues fixed for EU access but nobody is educating people, even the NFU.

01.03.2026 10:01 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I find it crazy because the Greens are now eating the LibDems lunch! πŸ™ƒ

01.03.2026 09:43 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Well, it is only year ten of refusing to learn anything!

01.03.2026 09:37 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

You stated "what’s feasible as a next step", with the implication that europe was to blame.

The limit to what is feasable is due to the policy of UK political parties such as the Labour govt and in this case, the LibDems in not liking FoM.

This demonstrates lack of understanding / tribalism by you

01.03.2026 09:35 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

NOTE:
It is year ten and the * basics * are still not understood.

01.03.2026 09:28 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 3 πŸ“Œ 0

FoM and the single market It is not feasable because of the UK government (and in this case the LibDems)

Blaming europe for the policy of the UK is not acceptable.

If the UK would like FoM / single market then..

Follow the rule of law
Follow citizens rights
Offer the EU something they would like

01.03.2026 09:24 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

OK, taking an example from the letter, UK artists touring

For touring for UK artists to be acceptable and legal requires both the singe market & customs.

The LibDems don't like the single market so in this example you want the EU to change their treaties to accomodate you, which will never happen.

01.03.2026 09:20 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

The point here is that nothing will change under a LibDem government because you do not like FoM.

Meanwhile, friends have been forced out of the UK and my losses are over Β£2 million.

Like Blue Labour, you are the issue here, as explained with the reference.

You can only accept treaty changes.
