Ai?
When Danielle Smith claimed 80% of federally picked judges had donated to Liberals, that was way higher than any figure I'd researched.
I dug into it. Could confidently write here:
"It is not true. The single media source Smith got that fact from has since corrected it."

Boooooo
Do. Not. Like.
What are we, edging them?
Thank YOUUUU
Ew.
How many sticks will drop this GAME?!?!? 𦫠π¨π¦
Score! (I joke)
issue #1 they moved the landing page for the strategy (or renamed it?)
Yeah jaded is fair, cause definitely discourse has improved since then (sarcasm)
This council has signalled it wants to do better public consultation. The developer in this case also has other projects nearby that still need to go through various zoning and development permit processes, so perhaps incentive to build public trust?
Kind of? Iβve seen projects shift based on feedback ahead of a dev. permit decisions: Marc&Mada went from twin residential towers to a less towery design, R.B. Bennett site also shifted design to address concerns. Did everyone 100% love the outcome on those? No. But still, some changes made.
I keep mulling this and thinking: would it be ok if they designed it mixed use with office closest to the bar and the condo amenities at the bottom floor with condos on top? Or is that too optimistic of me
Ah this makes sense
Works fine for me?
Your secret is safe with me
So you're saying I need to make the chart myself from the statscan source data, yes?
Not as granular I think? The one I was looking at you could zoom into the neigbhourhood and see how population has changed (roughly) within the community since 68'
Yes! Which is exciting and will definitely help inform more decisions I think
In times like these I wish this data was current: data.calgary.ca/Demographics...
I probably didn't look hard enough to find the right dataset though and it might not be up to date cause our last civic census was in 2019
This guy has been a figure in my journalism career the entire time Iβve been in Calgary so itβs fair to say Iβll miss him. I also think itβs fair to say the profession will miss him too. Excited to see what he comes up with next!
He egged me on. I didnβt end up doing that story, and thatβs my bad, but really I think I remember the pitch because of his reaction and encouragement β something that can be hard to come by as a young journalist.
When I moved to Calgary and started working at Metro β I met Robson.
I remember pitching a fairness at the pumps piece where Iβd order pints at bars and check if they measured up as advertisedβ¦
Silly, quirky and a story that some might scoff at.
Not Robson!
I have you seen excavators on the roof of this Kensington building? I donβt know much about demolition, but I do know when you see something strange itβs worth asking: what the heck?

Iβll believe it when I see it (someone with no username photo comments it on a FB post or one of my trusted podcasters tells me itβs true)
I know some people avoid clicking on CBC videos because of the ads β guess what? Videos under a minute donβt have ads π€―

Calgary has a similar narrative around crime and safety often conflating physical safety with how safe someone feels when they see something uncomfortable, like open drug use.
