4 panel comic: P1: Begins with a caption box. "There's a scene in Twin Peaks - The Return where David Lynch --as Gordon Cole-- utters the words: Beneath, is a caricatured drawing of Gordon Cole saying "FIX THEIR HEARTS, OR DIE" P2: Another caption. "Those words have been going through my head on repeat today" Beneath, a silhouette of my head forms in negative space formed in a pink-red background. Within the head are multiples of the phrase spoken by Cole. P3: A massive "FIX THEIR HEARTS OR DIE" dominates the panel, formed, again, in the negative space. P4: Sandwiched between two caption boxes --one top, one bottom-- is the image of a man yelling with unbridled rage. The top caption reads "so many people need to hear those words with their whole person--" The bottom finishes with "--however, maybe those people are already lost to us"

and then, on account of being sick all day, I redid as much as I could before I felt too pants to continue.
last year was the first year I didn't do this in a really long time so I've forced myself to try for just one finished chunk, and if this is all I finish that's a-okay
Just thinking about comic strips.
HEY PUBLISHERS: pay attention to this entire thread; and recognize that a HUGE part of the problem is assigning comics projects to editors with no comics knowledge or experience. Editing comics is a discrete discipline, and when you don't recognize that, you fuck both creators and yourself over.
This year we're doing Whamutopia. Every time you hear Last Christmas you have to have a mulled wine at your earliest convenience and toast George Michael, because he was a lad

I'm going to take The Special Little Toy so many places. Lidl. My room. My office. Lidl again. My room again. The Special Little Toy and I will do all kinds of activity, like Stare At Upsetting News Cycle, Stare At Upsetting Smaller Screen, and Go To Lidl Again. It'll change my life, I can feel it.
everyone is saying The Special Little Toy is a craze. Maybe for YOU. I've never gotten over anything in my life. I can't wait for The Special Little Toy to arrive. I imagine it will turn up and knock on my door like so:
not to be dramatic but for the first time in almost a year I a) do not secretly desire to be hit by a car b) am drawing again (sporadically) and the reason for this is: My Special Little Toy is coming soon
commemorative art of the perfect mango I was excited to eat all week and discovered, upon slicing into it, that it was rotten. I showed so many people my mango. Everyone said what a gorgeous mango it was. So distraught am I that I accidentally blobbed ink on it; a metaphor for this anguish

From goodsniff/Catriona Drummond's (is she on here? I looked but couldn't find) substack, that I read and then had to lay flat on my back and think about a lot of things lmao. But this bit also applies to comics, and it's bang on.
'adult content' ok. A boob is there I guess but there's nothing anyone is going to be getting off to in these drawings lmao
