M42, the great Orion Nebula. This is a 2 hour exposure using a Seestar S30. I learned a masking technique for post processing that really helps to preserve nebula detailsโ€ฆespecially in the center where the long exposure tends to washout the details of the gas cloud. Thanks to the Photon Rookie on YouTube for sharing the technique. His skills are undeniably brilliant and he graciously shares them.

My first image using a new Seestar S30 Pro. Conditions were not ideal, but I think M42 came out nicely. I did some post processing in Siril and used a โ€œmaskingโ€ technique that I recently learned from Photon Rookie. #Seestar #Orion #nebula #stars #photography #astrophotography #nature #nightsky

I had an almost identical experience. lol. I bought a Meade 8โ€ Schmidt Cassegrain and took some blurry photos of Orion. Iโ€™ve been enjoying my S50 for over a year and just received the new S30 Pro. Enjoy and clear skies!

NGC-2359, Thorโ€™s Helmet Nebula, from Holualoa HI. Iโ€™m pretty pleased with it after only 70 mins before the battery died on my Seestar S50. If I have clear skies again tonight, Iโ€™ll try to add to the stack. I will also see if I can improve on it with post processing using Siril and Graxpert, etc.

Thorโ€™s Helmet. A beautiful emission nebula in the Canis Major constellation. My Seestarโ€™s battery died and, so I had to limit the exposure to 70 mins. Iโ€™ll try to add more to the stack tonight or tomorrow. #nebula #stars #astrophotography #Seestar #nightsky #Thor #cosmos #nature #Hawaii

Horsehead nebula with part of the Flame Nebula too. Approx. 500 FITs images from a SeeStar S50 stacked and processed in Siril, Graxpert and GIMP. I like the results a bit more than whatโ€™s possible with the native SeeStar app tools. Sadly, I couldnโ€™t use Astrosharp, since it is apparently only available for Windows; but Iโ€™m looking for alternatives. A big shout-out to Photon Rookie for his excellent tutorial on processing the Horse Head Nebula (among other deep sky targets)โ€ฆheโ€™s truly the GOAT of SeeStar Astro imaging. Check his work out on YouTube.

Old Seestar S50 image data of the Horse Head Nebula, but I reprocessed it using Siril, Graxpert & Gimp. Thx, Photon Rookie, for the great tutorial. I still need a Mac alt for Astrosharp, if anyone knows of one. #Nebula #stars #astrophotography #photography #nature #cosmos #nightsky

Behind him is a stylized cosmic backdrop featuring a spiral galaxy and scattered stars, giving the impression that he is positioned in front of a vast, luminous universe.

This is a 182 minute exposure of M1 using a Seestar S50. I cropped it a bit to show off the nebula, since it was pretty small in the full frame. This is one of my longer exposures and it really improved on the quality vs only 1 hour. It was also a bright full moon.

Messier 81 (Bodeโ€™s Galaxy) as a grand design spiral galaxy about 12 million light-years distant with a diameter of about 96,000 light years. The spiral structure with dust lanes makes it a very beautiful (and popular) target. This was a good test of my equipment at low temperatures. It got down to 20F on the first night with no glitches. Taken from my back yard.

M81 (Bode's Galaxy) is a grand design spiral galaxy about 12 million light-years distant. The galactic nucleus contains a supermassive black hole of roughly 70 million solar masses. Image was taken over two nights (12/29 and 12/30) and represents about 16 hours total exposure. #Astrophotography

The Rosette Nebula is an H II region in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way at a distance of approx. 5000 light years. The Nebula measures roughly 130 light years in diameter. The bright stars in the center excite the atoms in the nebula, causing them to emit radiation themselves.
