More “abalone landscapes”. I’m forever fascinated by patterns in nature resembling other patterns in nature at different scales.

Abalone “landscapes”. My mom found this palm-sized bit of shell on a beach when I was a kid and gave it to me decades ago. I’ve been using it as a spoon rest for maybe 20 years. Never thought to look at it this closely before. So many worlds on such a small surface.

I think my favorite thing about lichens in general is how they all resemble different corals/sea creatures.
