Wow, looking ro delete apps off my phone for space and popped onto Clubhouse and was shocked to see people still use it. I thought it had died, but I guess folks still like that for community? All of the other audio apps seem to have died or is it that I just don't bother with them?

I came on to finish a post about taking a nap at 6:30pm tonight but my phone died before the post. Only to discover upon return, after said nap, the spamming behavior from the bird app is here now. @safety.bsky.app please allow users to remove themselves from spam posts like the post I reported.

Every weekend has been filled with something anxiety/stress-inducing. I'm NOT doing this in February.

I sincerely hope everyone is able to take adequate precautions before the storm and is safe. I’m doing the best I can to prepare so my Mom, Ellie (my dog) and I are safe in the event of power outages. I hope you’re able to do the same if this storm is coming to your part of the country. That scenario is not even remotely feasible with this winter storm, particularly in rural NC. Communication needs to be the priority but between Federal cuts to public broadcasting and FEMA & the general lack of analog infrastructure, we’re not really set up for everyone to survive these storms. 4/5

During Hurricane Sandy, I was one of the people in Manhattan without power. I had to walk down 13 flights of stairs and then 2.5 miles before I found somewhere that had an outlet for me to charge my cell phone. My car was flooded & my landline stopped working. It also was relatively warm. 3/5

Another issue with this coming winter storm is the lack of landline telephones & battery draining apps. Portable chargers only last so long (2 or 3 full cycles). Communication will likely be very limited and I’m not convinced people will have adequate contingencies for communicating. 2/5

This upcoming storm is exposing the holes in this tech-filled world. If there are widespread power outages, as predicted, information is going to come to a grinding halt. What radio stations will be broadcasting hyper-local relevant news? Most young folks don’t even consider radio. 1/5

I am glad that this Wegmans story has gotten legs and is getting local and national news coverage. Applying pressure to businesses works (except if you're that mass market store with the bullseye logo). Hopefully City Council and/or the Mayor's Office will pass a law prohibiting this.

Do you mean at the Wegmans in Brooklyn that opened at the end of 2019 because the Wegmans in Manhattan opened in 2023? The article states this is an expansion of a test program they ran in 2024 (I guess at the Astor Place location?) It really sucks that they’re capturing eyes, faces, and voices!
