the samoyed appears to have spotted the photographer and might be slowly considering walking their way. there’s a person on an aisle seat between here and there on an iPad who obviously has not spotted the most important in-flight entertainment offering.

The spiral galaxy NGC 5042. It is noticeably bright around the central region of its disc, then dims somewhat out to the edge where there are fewer stars. Two spiral arms circle through the disc and emerge beyond its edge, around the galaxy’s sides. Many pink spots of new star formation, as well as dark reddish strands of dust, cover the galaxy. The arms contain some speckled, blue patches containing hot stars.

Using six wavelength bands, from the ultraviolet to the infrared, #Hubble has observed the spiral galaxy NGC 5042 in all its multicoloured magnificence!

On 25 February, T.A. 3019 in Middle-earth: the Fellowship pass the Argonath, and then camp on the Parth Galen on the shores of Nen Hithoel.

The Argonath were erected around 1,800 years earlier and show Isildur and Anárion.
