Yes, but surely people like photographers because of their photographs? Which is where I was coming from. I suppose it might not be unusual to like photographs but not the photographer, but it would be unusual to like a photographer and non of their work?….

One of my fave all time photos is by Don McPhee at the battle of Orgreave. One of my favourite series is A Wounded Lanscape by @marcwilson.co.uk moved me to tears. I also like Anton Corbijn & Kevin Cummins & Ivo Peters but that’s because of the subjects but my opinion doesn’t make them the greatest!

Surely it depends on what is perceived to be the ideal content of a photo? I like photography that has a message or narrative, and something that moves me. Without knowing what the measure is, it’s just a collection and an opinion.

I must look up Impressions at Bradford? Not a location I’m familiar with, and it’s not far from me.

I saw this exhibition in @sidegallery.bsky.social in Newcastle a few years ago pre-covid I think? I’m sure I’m not the only one it brought to tears. Unfortunately SIDE is in transition trying to reopen. A very poignant collection of images.

The same happened with Faceache last Friday. I can’t abide instagram after it was changed not to be chronological, then ‘suggested’ garbage arrived and then, 1 in 4 posts were adverts. I deleted photos & not back for 4-5 years. Faceache is a problem as i’m active on so car/railway/photo/diy groups.

My surgery wound has healed well. Just hope the Achilles is! 12 weeks in from the accident so far, 11 from surgery.

Oh good grief! I could weight bear but I’ve got wedges under my heel. Another three months before I can do without wedges….stretching it slowly back to normal length….

Because the wound went as deep as my bone, I had normal incision (instead of keyhole) to stitch the Achilles back together.

I’ve got a long road to recovery, hope you recover soon.

Youch! How’d you manage that?

I’ve just started physio after slicing through my Achilles tendon following a freak incident on my boys scooter. It would be cool if it was a Vespa, but it was a child’s scooter 🛴. The muscles down the front of my leg are tighter than a Yorkshireman at a car boot sale!

I just re-subscribed to LR in November as getting my digital photos up to date. I’ve not bothered importing an old catalogue as I don’t want 20 years worth in the same catalogue! Only done 2025, but can’t decide how many years to have per catalogue. I’d like to bin adobe but found it the best for me

A complete list of 35mm and 120 format film I have in the fridge ready for use! Detailing film manufacturer, emulsion, ISO and expiry date.

After getting digitally up to date with photos, I thought I’d review just what film I have in the fridge, and their expiry date then I can plan use of it. I thought maybe 30-40 films….cant believe I’ve so much out of date? Really must plan and use it. Tips for OOD film welcome! #believeinfilm

Sadly I agree. I also fear the UK will go the same route. I’ve never needed any healthcare until recently, and that’s fine. I’m happy my taxes go to make other people’s healthcare free, because you know what? I’ve been lucky to have been so healthy. Others not so. It’s also there when I need it.

The NHS in the UK isn’t perfect but it is awesome, and so are the people who work in/for it (99% of the time)

Two months ago I ruptured my Achilles, sliced straight through it in an accident. The UK NHS have been awesome so far. It hasn’t cost me a penny, apart from the 30+ years of tax I’ve paid!

What baffles me is people are happy to pay insurance premiums, but not pay the same in tax for a free at point of entry health care system! It’s nonsensical.There is nothing wrong with private healthcare as a luxury choice, but healthcare should be free for EVERYONE. Just my opinion.

I deleted all my Instagram when the algorithm made every fourth photo an advert. I couldn’t stand 25% adverts. They’d already destroyed it once the chronological order went. Faceache the same, 25% adds. It can get in the sea with ’x’, which I binned like most here when it became a platform of hate!

That’s awesomely bright! In 2016 I asked him about a new focus screen for a Yashica 124G back then but he’d stopped doing them. I must dig out the email to contact him again! I assume that is a Yashica? Looks like one to me …

Nearly all personal websites have vanished without trace. I then realised it’s late 2018 since I last updated mine. I suppose it’s still there? But I’m not going to look in to visitor numbers on the host! I did enjoy doing websites but time is now dominated by children! Is there a point these days?

Personal Websites. I wonder if there is a future for them? I’ve finally re-set up from scratch my Mac, downloaded all digital images from memory cards, and installed LR. I’m digitally up to date for the first time in 6 1/2 years. I loaded my bookmarks in to chrome and started visiting them.
