i don't care about any arguments against this. right now the sum total of my political advocacy is: crush the Republicans and make them pay. i don't care what comes after because until we do that nothing better is possible.

A president attacking another country based on a "feeling" is unacceptable. It's like Alex Jones saying God called on him to expose the deep state while he was eating a chicken fried steak. Except people are dying because of it.

If you wouldn’t serve it to a guest in your home, don’t donate it! People experiencing food insecurity have taste. They aren’t like molecularly different from you; they’re you with less luck.

Rough detention at Golden Gardens ends in bruised rib Seattle police, looking for someone who stole a car and crashed it, mistakenly detained a man on an early morning walk and knelt on his back, injuring him.

Peter Donovan was just minding his business when two Seattle cops stopped him, ordered him to the ground, and knelt on his back, driving his chest into the sidewalk.

A few days later, the doctor told him he likely had a fractured rib. open.substack.com/pub/divestsp...

I have seen a lot of cursed stuff in my time in academia but this is among the *most* cursed.
Grammarly is generating miniature LLMs based on academic work so that users can have their writing β€˜reviewed’ by experts like David Abulafia, who died less than two months ago.

Maybe you're tired of all of those boring lap cats and would prefer a cat that's a bit more like an Infocom game? Spats has at least 5 steps you must perform perfectly before she will give in to the joy of being petted. www.petfinder.com/cat/spats-65...

There is no marketing I'm more susceptible to these days than any company saying they don't use generative AI in their projects. I'm a sitting duck for that promise even if they're selling graham crackers or masking tape.

One of my least favorite things around AI in video games is when these LLM idiots try to say that "AI has been in video games for decades," as if the routines that tell ghosts to chase Pac-Man are exactly the same as the chat bot claiming there are nine Rs in strawberry.

I knew so many people who articulated their trans experiences and feelings to me and neither of us knew what to do with them. There weren’t many role models and no resources until USENET, I suppose.

Family of Jaahnavi Kandula, Pedestrian Killed by SPD Officer in 2023, Reaches $29,011,000 Settlement with City - PubliCola In an incident that sparked widespread outrage, police guild leader Daniel Auderer joked that the 23-year-old student was only worth…

PubliCola confirmed this morning that the city settled with Jaahnavi Kandula's family for $29,011,000. The added $11,000, which the family requested in their lawsuit, is a reference to then-police guild vice president Daniel Auderer's "joke" that Kandula's life was only worth that much.

also IF the AI doomerism was correct and we are in the process of building literal Skynet the ONLY ethical way forward would be to deploy lethal military violence against the AI industry and it's researchers worldwide.

If you aren't suggesting that, you don't believe this is end-the-world serious.

BlueSky is one of the worst platforms I have ever dealt with. Within seconds of creating a second account, after my first one was shut down just two days after it was created, my account was closed again. This happened despite the fact that I hadn’t posted anything or followed anyone. I was only in the process of adding a profile photo, yet I received an email claiming that my account was β€œspam” and that it was β€œcausing harm.” What kind of logic is this?

The painful truth is that the account was shut down the moment it became clear it was created from inside Gaza. It seems we are no longer allowed to write or speak about what is happening to us here. They are not afraid of content itself, but of our voices and the reality we carry with us.

Millions are spent to silence these voices and to erase the truth. I am exhausted by this platform and by how our photos and videos, which document real suffering, are treated as β€œviolations of community standards,” as if pain itself has become a crime.

What is happening is not simple moderation or policy enforcement. It is an attempt to erase our existence and bury the truth. And honestly, this is shameful and unbearably painful.

[the original poster has included two screenshots showing the email from bluesky admin informing him that his account has been taken down for being 'spammy, inauthentic or disruptive to users'. it's the standard boilerplate you get when they take moderation action.]
