Adam Tooze: The Trump trade is dead. Long live the anti-Trump trade. Wherever you look in financial markets, you see signs that global investors are going out of their way to avoid Donald Trumpβs America.
(deep cut?)
OpenAI has decided AI safety with regards to automated weapons is less important than money from government contracts. We must reward companies that hold the line and punish companies that defect.
I canceled OpenAI two weeks ago because I saw the writing on the wall. Just subscribed to Anthropic.
Big protest at the Lincoln Monument. Seven D.C. high schools walked out to come here.
Maybe in-universe Dawkins got accidentally dosed with a slow acting memetic hazard while doing work for the Foundation and they moved him out into a public communicator role as a sort of retirement plan.
"Meaning is canonical; slack cannot enter."
Ten glorious years of a guy who has mostly been the president and always been the main character of American political life doing posts like this and everyone trying to figure out what cable news segment he saw, misunderstood in the way a dog might misunderstand a crossword, and made into policy.
One of the things that personally drives me crazy in the U.S. is how youth sports/athletic activities went from a part of the public good (municipal leagues and fields! rec centers! public parks!) to a privatized, expensive, highly competitive, highly structured pursuit for wealthy kidsβ rΓ©sumΓ©s
For a better understanding how this can be related to TEXTSECURE, suppose the following example (jealous spouse attack): Bart (Pb) wants to trick his friend Milhouse (Pa). Bart knows that Milhouse will invite him to his birthday party using TEXTSECURE (e.g., because Lisa already told him). He starts the UKS attack by replacing his own public key with Nelsons (Pe) public key and lets Milhouse verify the fingerprint of his new public key. This can be justified, for instance, by claiming to have a new device and having simply re-registered, as that requires less effort than restoring an encrypted backup of the existing key material. Now, as explained in more detail below, if Milhouse invites Bart to his birthday party, then Bart may just forward this message to Nelson who will believe that this message was actually sent from Milhouse. Thus, Milhouse (Pa) believes that he invited Bart (Pb) to his birthday party, where in fact, he invited Nelson (Pe).

Quality lawyering though.
Apparently singing La Marseillaise was a thing at Hollywood parties after the Nazis invaded France in 1940, and the writers of the script simply slotted it in. Ronald Reagan said he was sick of hearing it and avoided certain parties as a result
Yesterday morning kids were sent running from their bus stop in panic because ICE showed up. This guy at todayβs ICE Out of Lindenwold protest is a must watch π. @maddow.bsky.social
Given all the fan art that exists, why is no fanart of @nealstephenson.bsky.social's flynks?
Bro what the fuck
βThe Trump years have been and remain all too real, and weβre not going suddenly to wake up and discover that all is back to normal. But yesterday offered some promise that a hard-earned awakening could lie ahead.β

Can you post the URL source so this can be easily verified?
the man who owns Palantir, a key contractor to the US intelligence community. Under US law, Thiel, as a holder of high level security clearances, was required to report this contact to USG. It does not appear he did so.
This is an immensely significant document that continues to get virtually no attention in US mediaβbut lots abroad. In Jul 2015, Epstein arranged a meeting between a known highest-level Russian intel operative, Sergey Belyakov and Peter Thiel,
what the fuck man
The GOP has offered nothing this century except for catastrophic wars. No healthcare plan; no re-industrialization. Now they're losing their only issue, immigration, as people see the violence and havoc that comes with mass deportations.
This is my hometown - Buda, Texas. Guy runs up and starts pummeling one of the girls. I am so proud of these high school students standing up for their neighbors. There are more of us than the fascist dipshits, and there's safety in numbers. www.kxan.com/news/local/b...
A letter to the director of the CIA from Senator Ron Wyden saying he has sent a classified letter that expressed concerns.
This is how Sen. Ron Wyden clues the public into activity that he finds extremely alarming. He does a press release about a letter he sent to the director of the CIA that basically says, 'I want to make sure you saw the classified letter I sent early today.' www.wyden.senate.gov/imo/media/do...
