iirc this is her second or third Comita release with this set of characters so hopefully we'll at least get quarterly chapters with it
the targeting of any art that is "obscene" (terms of obscenity always to be decided at a whim) is fascistic yes but also how the only kinds of art that tends to be penalized is the individual/independent creators isn't lost on me. a patreon TOS would reject anything that can be streamed on netflix.
Btw, if it's not clear:
The tactic the right is using rn is to start censoring fetishes and kinks that are generally accepted to be "bad" or "gross" by most people to slowly warm us up to the idea of censoring all sexual expression online.
Don't fall for this by going "this is actually based!!"
Kinda hard to believe it's been 15 years since the earthquake and tsunami

Basically if I had to sum it up, there is *a lot* of unchecked cultural baggage showing up in queer crit and it really shows in the quality of what gets put out
And when the writing about art repeatedly settles on the works' moral correctness, it's hard to see it as anything other than a form of queer identity policing--especially in yuri, where the authors and their intents are scrutinized far more deeply than their (cis)het counterparts.
Like, I don't think these are bad topics of discussion in themselves, but in execution, they're substanceless and didactic! There's an assumption that the critic must be the one to set the reader's moral compass, lest the reader be tempted into wallowing with the pigs.
To point one: a group review of the Kanoko/Goeido scene in Watayuri, where the writers soothe a visceral reaction by reaffirming SA is bad, at length.
To point two: a review of Ayaka and Hiroko criticizing it for closeting queerness by keeping their relationship private.
As far as yuri goes my sense is that there's more or less a dichotomy between "this story does not conform to the coffeeshop lesbian romcom I expected" and "this work does not fully appreciate the revolutionary potential of lesbian relationships"
Honestly I find a lot of queer media criticism really unsatisfying for the fact that critics often spend much of their energy discussing a work's perceived moral failings rather than what the story itself might have to say.

Second Down on Scribble Hub Synopsis John Football is the most powerful man in Texas. He owns every football field in the Lone Star State, drives a big truck, and raised five strong sons to carry on the Football legacy. Except now he has four daughters. Because in the Football household, there is only one rule: WIN. And if you can't win at football? Well. John Football has pink paint for your bedroom waiting. And a very understanding family therapist. And apparently a remarkable relationship with a very discreet endocrinologist. Now it's Brandon Football's turn. Brandon is fifteen, the last Football son, his father's final hope. He's decent at football. Not great. Definitely not Football great. And when Brandon fumbles the championship game in front of the entire state of Texas, John Football does what any reasonable MAGA patriarch would do. He makes a phone call. Suddenly Brandon has four very supportive sisters, a closet full of sundresses, and a new name his father chose from a baby book he's apparently had ready since 2019.

Was this how I'd lose myself? One part at a time? First it was my right eye, now my right leg. I wondered what was next. My right hand? My voice? I thought back to the piercing being torn outโmaybe my hearing?
*Tomori lol
Yeah, the gothic twist is where I was getting the read of Sakiko embracing Uika despite emotionally preferring Tomori. Her letter to Sakiko is kind of a classic gothy "the fates will not allow us together but may we think of each other always" tragic doom missive
