A linoprint of a south-east Asian scene (Thailand to be precise). A shallow river between densely tree lined banks runs past a cloud covered mountain.

I have mentioned working on this new reduction print a couple of times, but because I am rubbish at marketing I have failed to spell out in clear terms that now it is finished you can buy it if you wish. Well anyway you can.

Life drawing for Holbein's portrait of Thomas More, pricked for transfer. You didn't think More sat there for as long as it took to paint a portrait, did you? In the painting, More looks both sadder and more resolute.

A flyer advertising the York Printmakers exhibition at City Screen, 13-17 Coney Street, York YO1 9QL. It is illustrated with four prints on the theme of 'Rivers of York'. It says the exhibition runs until 7th February but in fact that's the day it is taken down so it should say 6th February.

Update - in a change to the published dates the York Printmakers exhibition at the City Screen Picturehouse in York will be ending this FRIDAY, 6th February. (If you come to see it on Saturday morning all you will find is a bunch of harassed printmakers surrounded by bubblewrap and picture hooks).

Repost this with your home river. How timely, just as York Printmakers celebrate the Ouse and the Foss.

Thanks, Jane. Wouldn't of known. I remember watching it in the 70's, on a tiny telly, with a coat hanger for an aerial! We took it in turns to hold the coat hanger.

Please show your working Keeping track of the printmaking process

First 'Dapple Scrumping' of the year. I talk about how I plan my reduction prints and also record the process, as I have long since abandoned any idea that I will remember how I did something a week later.

Wonderful tribute to a teacher: young Sofonisba Anguissola paints herself being created by Bernardino Campi -- yet at same time, she is of course creating him! Today is her day.

The frontage of an art gallery. A small Georgian shop with a bow window of small panes of glass. The walls and woodwork are painted white. There is a contemporary bronze sculpture outside on the paved street.

A Festival of Print How marvellous is that?

I have been writing about the Festival of Print (yes I AM going to keep going on about it) and an absolutely mind-blowing painting.

Five women printmakers of various ages stand outside a Georgian shop front, painted dark green. You can't tell they are printmakers by looking at them - they almost look like normal people. All are grinning at the camera. The fact they are all women is a coincidence as men are also taking part in the festival , well two are anyway. The street behind is narrow and leads towards the archway of Bootham Bar, one of the medieval 'bars' or entrances through the city walls of York.
This has been made possible by Skippko and Blank Canvas who arrange for creatives to be able to use empty properties and to the York Conservation Trust who own the building and didn't want it be unused and empty while they plan refurbishment.

This is VERY EXCITING. This morning a group of York Printmakers collected the keys for a pop-up gallery right in the heart of York. Huge thanks to Blank Canvas who arrange for empty properties to be used by creatives, and to the York Conservation Trust who own the building. See alt text for more.
