This week: Chair Bethany Zecher Sutton, a 20-year Arlington resident & active community leader. She’s served on the Board since Jan 2023 & is a strong advocate for ensuring every student receives an excellent APS education.
At tonight’s School Board meeting, we recognized Black History Month—a time to honor the achievements, history, and contributions of Black Americans—with the honor of hearing the incredibly talented Gunston MS choir perform the Black National Anthem, "Lift Every Voice and Sing".
Feb. is SB Appreciation Month. Schools & communities will recognize almost 800 elected and appointed SB members throughout VA for their service & dedication to public education. We will be highlighting our SB throughout the month.

One of the consent items at this evening’s School Board meeting was the signing of the Collective Bargaining Agreement with Arlington School Administrators (ASA) signed by both Superintendent and Dr. Pam Farrell, President of ASA.
We recognized our outgoing School Board member, Mary Kadera, at her final School Board meeting. Thank you, Mary, for your dedicated service and all you have done for the APS community.
We were honored to enjoy a winter performance by the Yorktown Choral, who serenaded everyone present at this evening’s School Board meeting with wonderful seasonal cheer. ❄️🎶
