Thanks for this article which I have added to my collection of shit, annoying, bad writing which I consult when I feel impostory. A valuable contribution.
Aw this is amazing work!
What a brilliant resource!
Legend, what an achievement! Well done you!! β¨
An absolute joy to see in the cinema, it was showing here last year. Charisma of Chow Yun Fat on the big screen is almost incomprehensible!
We are so so close to 7am sunrise and 6pm sunset comrades

People expected to live forever in limbo, forever as outsiders, and they will still be asked: βWhy wonβt you just integrate?β
The changes announced by the Home Secretary forcing people seeking asylum to resubmit applications every 2.5 years leave people in limbo, unable to rebuild their lives, left to face yet more stress and fear. We spoke to our members about how they felt, you can hear their responses hereπ
Amazing! Congratulations, really looking forwards to reading this!
I've got a journal article out! '"The Order of the Elephant": Symbols and Power in the Policing of Land Agitation in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland' - exploring medals awarded to police who arrested land agitators in the 1880s, one of which is on display @ntlmuseumsscot.bsky.social
Absolutely horrendous to hear this, I thought that building was properly council owned not at the mercy of thieving scumbags City Property
street level, print studio, sharmanka, project ability -- an incredible loss if these institutions aren't found appropriate new locations
Nova a cracker!
Yes I think so
Every single thing was absolutely delicious - the rice was the nicest Iβve had in recent memory! Itβs opposite the Griffin, very highly recommended if needing food in town

Loved that book, a great yarn!
It was so good, there were various people getting the word out about upcoming actions agains the far right as well. Also so amazing that the film itself is teaching you a lot of valuable stuff about how to resist a raid and it'll be (I hope) widely seen and get that info out to 1000s of people
The night the Glasgow contingent of the International Brigade arrived back, following its disbandment, was an unforgettable night at the City Halls. There on the platform, were these almost mythical heroes with their Sam Brown belts and berets (a then unknown military style headgear and they were received with deservedly reverberating applause. It was announced that each local contingent would march to their respective districts and an appeal was made for locals of these districts to march behind them. Need they have asked! The Springburn contingent headed north led by a flute band. I never noticed a step of the way. As we neared Northcroft Road, the dispersal point, the band struck up the "International" as we swept into the street. It was a night to remember! A short while afterwards I joined the Young Communist League. Spain was a turning point in my life.
@spaincivilwartours.bsky.social great wee anecdote on the return of the International Brigades volunteers to Glasgow (from One Great Vision: Memoirs of a Glasgow Worker by Kenny McLachlan)
Brilliant!!
When we're drawing on these histories in discussions of land reform today, they need to be accurate and inclusive. Thanks to Kirsty Watt at the WHFP for this lovely article (and to Alastair for the photos!)

Folk out last night flyering the premiere of Everybody to Kenmure Street with practical information on how to resist an immigration raid:
Me standing in front of the film poster pointing to the credit βthe people of Glasgowβ
Me standing in front of a red carpet wearing my best suit and a golden shirt. I look extremely excited
Everybody to Kenmure Street! What an experience to see it for the first time with the people of Glasgow. So proud!
Full review of Everybody Kenmure Street for Scottish Left Review here. Itβs a poignant, funny and politically vital film. Itβs also about the street I was raised on and a day of infectious, unforgettable, freedom. So quite an emotional piece to write β€οΈβ
