I am increasingly disappointed that the concerns of the #LGBTQ+ community over what the Supreme Court judgement means for them are not yet being addressed. I have written to the Government asking them to make clear how trans and non binary rights will be protected.

I know my Trans & Non Binary friends will be worried, scared & confused today
The courts judgement needs careful consideration to understand its impact. Trans voices were not included yet this ruling affects them most. Thatβs deeply troubling.

Todayβs Supreme Court ruling wonβt change the Lib Demβs long standing support of and solidarity with the trans+ community, and with everyone who seeks to live their lives under control of their own bodies, and free from poverty, ignorance or conformity.
Trans women are women, trans men are men, and non-binary and intersex folks are valid just as they are. It's time this was reflected in the law of the land, and Liberal Democrats will be at the forefront of pushing for that change.
We will continue to support LGBT+ Lib Dems as they campaign for change, and we looking forward to welcoming the everyone to Portsmouth to celebrate UK Pride in June.
