Serious communists should actively plan to end their own state.

(Coda: I think the 70-yr USSR lifespan is detrimental (and depressing) if vanguard socialism is an inherently flawed strategy. It will seem like a near-miss and encourage trying again, which I think tantalizes many modern communists.)

But I find communists tend to be weakest on power analysis, and the general reason I'm not one is I'm dubious they'll let go once they have it.

I don't know how or if anarchism can achieve communism, but right now it seems more likely than by actual communists, and definitely not by MLs.

But that's my core concern: whether a vanguard-led socialist state will ever be able to relinquish its power in order to transition to actual communism.

I wanted to give this a fair hearing before responding. I finally had time, and watched the video, and while I have some differences, I agree with a lot.

It doesn't really address my core concern tho. It gave very brief, technocratic reaponses to the nature of power and democracy in the USSR.

"Massive health and safety issues" is wildly exaggerated. And littering isn't so bad an offense it warrants destruction of what little they own.

Just admit you don't like homeless people, and you think they should be punished.

Newsom is a weak candidate. He seems strong at first, cuz he has better political instincts than 99% of the Dem party, but the more people get to know him, the less they like him. He'll sell out trans people and the homeless, and cozy up to fascists on podcasts. He more of the same that got us here.

"Services" is also doing some heavy lifting there in its vagueness. Solving homelessness is possible, but requires more money and political will than America is willing to spend.

Bzzzt, wrong again. None of those things fundamentally tackle the problems of homelessness, just the optics. Newsom didn't have to go thru with those sweeps, he could have left them alone. Announcing in advance is just an attempt to place blame on the victims.

Bzzt, wrong, destroying homeless encampments is not the same thing as getting people housed.

It's just torturing them, it doesn't end any homelessness whatsoever.
