BIGGEST GAME OF THE YOUNG BIG 12 SEASON TONIGHT (Arizona @ BYU).

The "top-4" is now the "top-6" and the race is going to get nutty. I've added upcoming "weekday" and "weekend" in the legend now that we've hit BYEs, and it gives a better snapshot of the week ahead for each team (BYU... woof!).

27.8% of the way through the Big 12 season, this is going to be a critical week in the race:
β€”ISU absolutely needs a 2-0 week to stay in the race
β€”Tech/Baylor tonight is HUGE, could determine both teams' trajectories
β€”Lots of coin flip games across the league, could see movement

Added a few things to this week's edition, including records, current SOS, and projected SOS.

The "Big 4" are still intact, and a HUGE game between BYU and Tech this weekend. Baylor at KU and Arizona at UCF are sneaky good/important games in the standings.

Not many shocking results over the weekend, but lots of marginal movement. Until proven otherwise, the conference race will come down to Arizona, Iowa State, BYU, and Houston.

Massive leverage game in Allen Fieldhouse on Tuesday for ISU. The rest of the weekday slate? 😴

IT'S BACK:
We’re officially 11% into Big 12 play and, honestly, it’s been boring. No major upsets, and the best win so far is ISU's win at Baylor last night.

ISU/Arizona/BYU/Houston are a tier above the rest, but all 4 have to play AT Kansas. Road to a title runs through Allen Fieldhouse?

Thank you for this. I'm sure it's clouded by my parents' interests and interpretations, but I can't think of an equivalent to The Beatles' and The Beach Boys' battle for relevancy.
I wish I could have experienced it in real time myself. Today, we reap the benefits of the rivalry.

Funny that the people who claim to most strongly support blue-collar workers and oppose the rich elites who are automating everything to put people out of work also most strongly support the ICE raids and are appalled at self-driving cars being lit on fire by protesters.

Music that moves you and whiskey that hits just right… that’s about as good as it gets in this life.

Watching two people you really dislike fight publicly and make themselves look worse is so, so entertaining even if it does not make my life better.

Sad to be relieved to post support for the most basic human rights and not be flooded with bots 😭 Cheers, brother! 🍻

A little late, but Happy Pride Month to my Bluesky followers, who won’t flood me with homophobic bigotry at the thought of gay people.

You think you’re tough and then on day 6 of your wife being gone on a work trip, your 1.5-year-old won’t stop saying β€œmomma??” while pointing up to your bedroom and you have to distract yourself from tears. I need her home too 🀣😭

Good evening Bluesky. Give me the best side you can buy at a fast-food establishment. Culver’s cheese curds have to be up there.

Eliminate thousands of American jobs βœ…
Shut down important aid to millions of Americans βœ…
Erode foreign relations with war-torn ally vs. powerful mutual enemy βœ…
Trade war with biggest allies βœ…
25% tax on nearly all goods βœ…

Campaign promises that he kept, although weird people voted for it.

High aerial view of Iowa State University's central campus looking down at a yellow hot air balloon with a large red Cy mascot on the side that is mid-flight above the green lawn. This is the leaning cardinal mascot from the 1980s era. Directly behind the balloon is the historical Morrill Hall, a red brick building from around the 1890s. Behind that at the very top of the photo is the large Parks Library building, with the new addition on the left and the old library from the 1920s on the right. The bottom of the photo is lush and green, lots of large trees in full bloom, grass lawn immaculate, several light concrete walking paths. Overcast day, hardly any shadows. The rich green and clouds makes the bright yellow balloon pop.

100% my experience. Cedar Ridge has the best whiskey in the state with their single malts, which is saying something since I MUCH prefer bourbon. Their bourbons are fine (actually, good!) but it’s not my flavor profile. Don’t know if Iowa will ever have a perfect bourbon for me.

I remember a time when people obsessed over "Rich Men North of Richmond" as their rallying cry for the working class, only to kiss the feet of Donald Trump and Elon Musk and trusting these millionaire/billionaires have them and their humble 5-digit salaries in their best interests.

Seems pretty bad that Elon Musk (a non-elected adviser to the president) seems to have as much (or more) influence on U.S. politics in the past month than our last president did in years. And pretty much all of it via questionably legal avenues. Everyone seems concerned and nothing is being done.

Something about β€˜90s and early β€˜00s concert DVDs absolutely rewires my brain chemistry for some reason. Fleetwood Mac’s β€œThe Dance”, The Eagles’ β€œHell Freezes Over”, etc. They transport you to the perfect intersection of live music and production on physical media. I’m sad that’s disappearing.
