Driving back to Missouri #NewYearsDay2026 we passed Vandalia the 2nd Illinois State Capitol, in whose Old Ill. Statehouse Abraham Lincoln served as an Ill. state representative from Sangamo County during the “Hard Times” of tue late 1830s.

Thanks! I noted this as an option when they were pushing out “new features” of the latest operating upgrade but then couldn’t find out how to access it.
New York was the best. I was too distracted keeping tabs on my friends amidst the Barrowland Ballroom mosh pit to remember much, even Fairytale of New York wh/ was new. Shane was almost a no show at the Spring ‘88 Edinburgh show, indecipherable vocals with an oddly sedate seated amphitheater crowd.
Singers knew what they wanted … even if they weren’t in New York or w/in sight of one another. Saw the Pogues live in Ohio, NYC, then in Glasgow in the same month they released Fairytale of New York (my year ‘87-‘88 studying abroad) and I never knew what to expect, from Shane, or from the audiences.
