Once upon a time, the ALP actually had policies, rather than just waiting around for the policies to be given them by corporations and the Murdoch press.
@angorafish
Australian. Left wing nerd, native plants, landscape design, urbanism, urban fantasy reader, Celtic music, folk festivals, violins, free range children, atheist. No gofundmes, fund political lobbying instead. Free Palestine. Fuck Murdoch.
Once upon a time, the ALP actually had policies, rather than just waiting around for the policies to be given them by corporations and the Murdoch press.
It died around four decades ago, best as I can recall.
What the actual fuck?
WAR CRIME BY THE US.
An unarmed Iranian ship was takIng part in an Indian naval exercise, alongside the US.
The US withdrew and torpedoed the Iranian ship.
THEN the US refused to rescue the sailors, letting them drown.
This is treachery, cowardice, cruelty and a war crime of the highest order.
War criminals. And yet Australian governments are trying to criminalise resistance.
I grew up in council housing and so Iβm proud today to announce a $100m grant to Kings Grammar for the construction of a new, state of the art polo field. The new field will sit on the site of the old Parramatta High School and significant First Nations country.
Public ed is good for social cohesion. Public funding for religious private schools divides us.
It's extremely depressing how our system & pol leaders encourage a belief that sending your kids to private, esp "Christian" schools gives them a better future. We need pride & investment in public ed
Meanwhile, prominent Democrats like Senator Warren emerged from a classified briefing about the attack on Iran, saying they had gained no clarity whatsoever about why it was happening. "It's so much worse than you thought," she said. Senator Chris Van Hollen called the classified justifications "complete incoherence". And yet, our Foreign Affairs Minister feels comfortable asserting total faith in America and Israel's "intelligence". I've been saying this over and over: the contempt the Labor administration has for the Australian public is truly extreme. We have Lindsay Graham openly saying, "this is a religious war", and US soldiers complaining that they've been told that these strikes are part of "God's divine plan". One officer said that 'President Trump has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth". The NCO's complaint was filed on behalf of 15 troops, including 11 Christians, one Muslim, and one Jewish person.
I donβt know if you have been paying attention but the US has effectively gone full Christian Crusades on this war - it is explicitly religious, racist, and malignant, and not a single journalist in Australia has questioned our politicians about backing this war in light of this.
It took two hours for Albanese to declare support for the latest US/Israeli war crimes.
How long has it taken the Labor Party to consider raising the rate? To halting fossil fuels? To seriously address the racism to First Nations and Muslims?
The ALP in your head is long dead.
US are cowards
newrepublic.com/post/207429/...
USA are fucking cowards. Sly disgusting cowards.
Please find your own patronising straw man and concern trolling elsewhere. Thanks.
I mean, people were prosecuted for it at Nuremberg, but sure, I guess.
Oh, they learned all right. They learned that they can do this with impunity.
Launching the war itself is the war crime, and therefore so is everything that flows from it.
Because that's worked out so well for them in the past...
Pretty difficult to refute a single thing in this perfect assessment of where the f**k we are, from @iandunt.bsky.social:
Four democrats voted against this bill and were the reason it failed. Get your party in order.
This new cycle of violence was all too predictable. For months, Israeli officials had signalled an escalation of their campaign against Hezbollah. Despite a ceasefire that ended a devastating 13-month war in 2024, Israel had continued with its bombing of Lebanon almost every day, saying the group was trying to rebuild its capabilities. Hezbollah, however, had remained quiet, aware that any move would inevitably be met with a powerful retaliation.
Interesting admission by BBC
Previously the IDF has issued only much narrower evacuation orders for urban areas of Lebanon (specific buildings or blocks).
Now, as it did in Gaza, itβs telling people they need to get out of whole neighborhoods of suburban Beirut, as well as the entirety of southern Lebanon south of the Litani.
With the US military spending $1 billion a day on a pedophile's whims, remember that the UN estimates that it costs about $93 billion to end world hunger.
The *first* 93 days of this decade+ war, could be spent ending world hunger, if anyone in power actually wanted to

In response to a world conflict started by the most vile, venal criminals,
our PM and FM tell us with straight faces that the legality of the bombings is entirely a matter for those same criminals.
The insult to our intelligence is only matched by the danger to our security. #auspol
Israel is employing the same destructive strategies in Iran that it previously utilised in Gaza.
It's not like it's particularly hard. wanaen.com/u-s-bombed-f...
It's not like Israel hasn't already been deploying fully automated AI targeting for years now without any particular concern for false positives.
Intriguing.
Indeed. They are quite happy, I suspect, that they can send emails that motivate the base but that congress won't be able to do anything significant about for at least another three years. Of course, they could still plan and campaign for an actual policy, but who has the energy for that?
I missed this earlier. Dave lays out the Eretz Israel project in more detail than anyone with eyes could possibly need these days but to reiterate: a double tap missile strike on a girls school by genocidal states is genocidal.

They've certainly made no effort whatsoever to do anything different from what they did last time.
Ah yes, cutting funding to Muslim groups because of a social media post by the far-right Australian Jewish Association. The textbook definition of social cohesion
