The Red-headed woodpecker is not uncommon in my region but easily missed in the area where I live since it doesn't seem to stay long. I was happy to get this capture today.

I got to shoot the Sam Houston women's basketball game against UTEP last night. UTEP hit a game winning 3 pt shot with just under 6 seconds to defeat SH 64-62. The Bearkats are now 7-5 & 0-2 in Conf. USA. #Sports #Basketball
Ruby-crowned Kinglet

Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon from a few years ago. This was just a quick day trip. How awesome it would be to schedule a vaca for a few weeks in this area.
Sam Houston finished their nonconference schedule with a 111-65 win over U of Dallas. Bearkats will enter conference play with a 7-6 record as they head on the road to face former long time coach Jason Hooten and New Mexico State. SH will look to repeat as regular season champs in Conference USA.
Congrats to my Sam Houston State Bearkats on their victory last night. This was their first bowl game in only the second season of FBS competition. Last night was a different view for me as I opted to enjoy the game among family and friends in the stands.
Wonderful work. My wife and I made it a point to visit this lighthouse a couple of years ago while we were in Tallahassee. There's not many lighthouses in Texas.
Well, my Bearkats will be looking for a new head coach heading into their bowl game.

Correction, SH was 3-9 last year not 3-8.
Sam Houston completed the regular season on Friday defeating Liberty 20-18. The win gives the Bearkats a 9-3 record in their 2nd year of competing at the FBS level. The Kats finished 3-8 in year one. The SH will wait to see if they will advance to the conference title game and then a bowl invite.
