We had the honor of hosting Prof Jose Moron-Concepcion from @washumedicine.bsky.social yesterday! He gave a fantastic seminar on novel therapeutic approaches to prevent pain-induced opioid escalation and fentanyl overdoses. @linyhung.bsky.social @tonelloraquel.bsky.social @elisadamo.bsky.social

NEW PREPRINT π¨ Why does IBS pain persist? PRCβs Nestor Jimenez-Vargas and the Bunnett Lab uncover how PAR2 signaling from endosomes amplifies fleeting histamine signals to sustain colonic nociceptor hyperexcitability. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Amazing opportunity!
On the cover of Science Signaling! Work in the Ye lab, led by Naijiang Liu and Xiaojie Shi, shows that blocking epidermal growth factor receptor signaling reduces oral cancer pain AND boosts opioid efficacy. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
Proud of Dr. Yi Ye and her team's outstanding work advancing our understanding of oral cancer pain and opioid tolerance. Check out the press release on these important findings! www.nyu.edu/about/news-p...

Exciting work introduces EG01449 (12h), a novel Neuropilin-1 (NRP1) antagonist. It inhibits NRP1, avoiding signaling drawbacks, and blocks VEGF-induced pain by mitigating channel currents in sensory neurons. NRP1 antagonism is a promising new modality for chronic pain. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...
What a day! β¨ The 1st NYC Area Pain Research Meet-Up blew us away β amazing energy, brilliant conversations, and an incredible community. Huge thank-you to everyone who attended and to all who helped bring this event to life. Already excited for the next one!
PRCβs very own Associate Director, Steve Davidson, PhD, took the spotlight as our Keynote Speaker at the 1st NYC Area Pain Research Meet Up! π€β¨
Talk Title: Humanizing Pain Neurobiology for Translational Gain.
