The young people we work with need safety and stability to rebuild their lives - that's why we signed this joint letter urging the government to show leadership and change course on their disastrous asylum and migration changes.

Giving people just 30 months leave to remain makes it impossible to get on with your life and plan for the future. Young people need safety and stability to survive and thrive, not punitive and unworkable policies that make life worse for everyone.

"Safety and protection is all I ask for ...I'd like to be accepted in this country"

We know what young people need to be able to rebuild their lives in the UK after fleeing their home countries - and it's the exact opposite of the government's changes to asylum.

Through the external evaluation, we heard directly from young people about what our support means to them. For many, Young Roots is the only place where they can access this combination of practical help, trusted relationships and fun activities in one space.

One young person told us:

β€œThe workshop made me excited because before I had no confidence, but now I do.”
Together, we’re creating spaces where young people can build skills, express themselves and connect with each other.

This partnership was only made possible through the Croydon Loves You grant from Croydon Council, whose support is helping us create more opportunities for young people to learn, connect and grow.

We’re proud to be working with Kazzum Arts to bring confidence-building Creative ESOL sessions to young people at our Croydon hub. The sessions are full of creative activities using imagery, writing and interactive exercises.

Email your MP today to stop newly-granted refugees becoming homeless You need more than 28 days to find a home - help us to get the government to agree to a 56 day move-on period when people are granted refugee status

When the government trialled giving refugees 56 days instead, it was better for refugees, for local communities, for everyone. Now, the government is deciding on the future of the 56 day policy – and you can help make sure 56 days stays.

Two weeks to save 56 days! When people are granted refugee status they were previously given just 28 days to move out of their asylum accommodation and find a new home. (1/2)

Home Office age assessment scheme endangers child refugees and must be scrapped, NGOs say Coalition of refugee support groups says board’s β€˜traumatic’ and β€˜flawed’ processes are putting children at risk

Young people we support have endured interrogation-style interviews as part of NAAB assessments, and experienced seriously flawed decision. This is not money well spent.

Children's safety should never come second to politics. We have seen first-hand the harm that age assessments can cause - and we do not believe that the National Age Assessment Board (part of the Home Office) can act independently.

One of our supporters is marking Ramadan with their family by doing flips on a gymnastics bar every day of Ramadan to raise money for Young Roots. Whether you’re observing Ramadan, Lent, or simply welcoming the start of spring, this time of year invites us all reconnect with what matters.

This year, Ramadan and Lent fall at the same time, two traditions that, in their own ways, bring people together in thoughtfulness and generosity. This reminds us how much we share when it comes to community and compassion.
