Our work wouldnβt be possible without the support of mana whenua and our amazing partners: Clare Foundation, OneFortyOne, Port Nelson, Friends of Nelson Haven and Tasman Bay, @waikatouniversity.bsky.social, Nelson City Council. Weβre also grateful to all who have previously supported this project.
New year, new growth π±
The #RestoreTheMeadows team is kicking off new nursery experiments to optimise light conditions and sediment types for growing seagrass. Building on @Ellie Brettleβs PhD research, this is a key step toward scaling up seed-based restoration.

Seasonβs greetings from the #RestoreTheMeadows team πΏ
Weβve wrapped up seagrass flowering collection for the season, harvesting ~20,000 flowers. These will support experiments next year to optimise light & sediment conditions for growing seagrass.
Thanks to everyone who supported us this year π

#RestoreTheMeadows spent FriβSat at Waimea Inlet with amazing volunteers from the Boathouse Society collecting seagrass flowers πΏ Seeds from these will support nursery experiments. It takes many seeds, so weβre grateful for the help!
