Laura’s book Awakened set against a dark blue background. The cover is light grey and features a creepy raven with a blue eye bearing the Tower of London on its back
it’s #WorldBookDay and #WomenInHorror month, so i’m obliged to remind you all that my horror dystopia novel, Awakened, a somewhat Frankenstine meets The Yellow Wallpaper gothic tale, is out and available for your reading pleasure!🐦⬛

i have a variant of an already-rare neurological condition that potentially makes me the only person currently alive to have this particular (unknown) version, according to neurologists at the world leading centre for said-condition who remain baffled by me

8. Children of Ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky

On a background of crumpled vintage paper rests a paperback book: Cheer The Sick. The cover features an early modern plague doctor dropping an oversized posey of flowers. The tagline reads "What ails you?"
For #WomenInHorror month, I'm obliged to share my collection, Cheer The Sick. Tales include:
🗝️ What happens when you snort powdered faun
🗝️ There's a man inside the boiler and he knows you're gay
🗝️ Don't wear the fairy meth helmet
🗝️ Chelsea Flower Show vampires

ME vs POTS problem unlocked: was sitting against my heatpad because i’m crashing after last week & my muscles are killing me, didn’t realise i wasn’t regulating temperature properly & had triggered syncope so passed out while still sitting in my armchair
very funny in a terrible kinda way! 🫣

A photo of a copy of the ARC for Angry Robot 2026 edition of Moon Over Brendle by Jeff Noon. The book will be published May 12th.
Moon Over Brendle? Don't listen to us, listen to Aliya Whiteley:
"A transporting, generous novel, creating much to think on, and richly conjuring hopes and fears. It's an immersive and vivid adventure."
Aliya Whiteley, BSFA Best Novel Award-winning author of Three Eight One.

So THE SALT ORACLE is a finalist for the BSFA awards! And my amazing designer, Sam Gretton is a finalist for the cover too! 🙌🏽
Truly delighted for Sam & very, very grateful to everyone who voted for my strange, briny why-pick-one-genre-when-you-can-pick-four book 🤗

A fluffy white cat with grey markings and a black moustache stretched out into a croissant shape across a coffee table, his little head tipped upside down as he stares into the camera
now i’m home again for a good long while hercule purrot is reminding me why i shouldn’t have the audacity to go anywhere in future without his permission

It's so refreshing to hear a politician calmly and sensibly addressing real problems, and it's so enjoyable to watch Matt Godwin turn himself inside-out with rage like a fascist carrier bag.

Laura’s hand holding the book Children of Time, featuring a shot of an elaborate spaceship floating beneath a planet
7. Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky
this is an incredibly smart tale of evolution across Space and both accelerated and compressed time. the ending genuinely surprised me, which doesn’t happen often; although I don’t know if it’s increased or cured my discomfort with spiders 😂
