On the 6th month anniversary of the LA fires the federal government is choosing to spend millions raiding MacArthur Park instead of approving disaster aid we requested months ago for families who are still displaced.
AO3 being down on my day off is a personal offence
My dad has been in the housing business in Texas for 30+ years and my grandfather was a roofer and brick layer. My favorite uncle placed the bricks on the house I grew up in.
This video is exactly itβ¦. Mexican hands help build America. Period.
The most LA thing just happened to me - guy sits down next to me at the theater and starts chatting. Turns out we both saw the same 3 movies this week π€£

Claire continues to be the most boring and forced part of this show why is she here so much π©
some day the consultants will learn it wasnβt the medium it was the message
THE BEAR S4 continues the streak of using some of my favorite songs as needle drops.
This time a Love & Rockets track.
Bless their music supervisor π€
Warped Tour 2005 in Dallas was 20 years ago todayβ¦
That day was so fundamental to the person I am today, wow.
Also SO GLAD this one leaned into the horror of it all. Itβs not a horror film, but those intense life or death encounters feel like the best parts of a Jaws or Aliens
Not quite a banger but def beat my expectations. I wasnβt bored like I was during the last Jurassic film
Jurassic Rebirth timeβ¦ I saw three banger movies last week and I hope this doesnβt bring that streak to an end
my periodic reminder that your artistic work β your writing, music, dance, whatever it is β is crucially important for you and for the people who receive it, in ways you might never personally experience or grasp. you gotta trust me, please keep going
Watching Paint the Night and Wondrous Journeys could actually fix me, but alas, this summer I'm on a budget π
Everything is β¨fineβ¨
Did some of yβall forget why people were protesting in 2020?
Yes, cops have their place & serve a purpose when helping with real emergencies.
But how the police as an entity function when protests happen is completely out of line. Excessive force is unnecessary.
Canβt we at least agree on that?
Arturo Obrego, a 77-year-old army veteran who hitchiked from Huntington Beach is going viral for getting hit with wooden baton by officers on horses and knocked down during todayβs peaceful βNo Kingsβ protest in DTLA. @TheGlutster ran into him at Union Station a couple of hours after the incident.
Five years ago during the BLM protests, LAPD was giving orders to βarrest anyone on the street, it doesnβt matter where theyβre going.β
We need to get ICE out of LA, but even if we do, weβve still got the fucking LAPD who will start rioting at the drop of a hat.
Hearing from so many people, including people with their kids, who didn't feel safe after LAPD/LASD started attacking peaceful protesters β and then were unable to get home.
If you took transit to DTLA and got stranded I'd love to hear from you
being able to hear the wheels on the Sherman tanks squeal on account of no one there is some incredible footage. A+ comedy.
The ones tear gassing and shooting stuff at demonstrators are local police right now. This is on Mayor Bassβ hands. KTLA person on the ground said βno idea what provoked this response, it was peaceful before this happened.β
Let the record reflect the DTLA protests were peaceful. There was no need for any escalation from the police. We're hours away from the curfew, which is itself unnecessary and only a dangerous pretext to limit First Amendment rights.
Unacceptable and abhorrent.
Havenβt seen a crowd estimate yet for DTLA but my group marched from City Hall to Pershing Square, doubled back to Grand Central and took a 45 minute lunch break an then rejoined the still thick crowd marching to Pershing.
So, a LOT of people.
Thanks! My crew walked a bit and took a different line and transferred at Union, so weβre all on our way home
Exactly, and so early in the day too to start trapping people
Why are multiple metro stations in DTLA closed? It made tying no to leave the area much more difficult than necessary when there are SO MANY people out.
Make the trains all one way if you have to but like, cβmon. Donβt leave folks stranded in the area to be sitting ducks for LAPD π«
Had a chance to do a lights on tour there about 15 years ago, the guy who ran it was really passionate about it and that experience is really what got me into haunt culture
With the tragic assassination of a Minnesota Democratic leader, Iβm going to underline this point again.
If this were a Democrat, he would have already been arrested
I was really hyped for the Dark Harbour return last year and had the worst night. I left pretty early, even after prepaying for so many upcharges to try and mitigate having a tough time
