I dislike having to boil myself down into a pithy description. Here are some likes, I guess: cats, photography, art, gadgets, fountain pens, stationery, video games, the old web (blogs!), science fiction, books, tech history

New Pen Day: Littleu x Kaweco Sport I saw a notice on the Pen Addict Slack group of a restock of this Littlelu and Kaweco collaboration pen from Pinky Elephant (which I didn't know existed until I saw the notice) and had to purchase it. πŸ˜€ There's also a macchiato-colored version of this Kaweco Sport that I hope

I’m so sad it’s not available for Switch 1. I’m seeing all these stories about Pokopia and am actually missing out. ☹️

RIP to Jesse Jackson. His funeral is today. I wanted to share this clip from his appearance on Sesame Street in 1971. His important words ring just as true today as they did back then.

Probably just our old-school mentality, and the desire to let a new show last as long as possible, instead of blowing through all the episodes at once and then not having anything else to watch.

Oh, yeah. We were watching weekly. πŸ™‚ We tend not to binge shows even if they're released all at once or we catch up on a show that's already all available.

The first Black woman in space carried more than experiments aboard the shuttle.

Mae Jemison’s journey from Chicago science museums to Space Shuttle Endeavour showed generations of girls what was possible.

History remembers the woman who reached for the stars.

I liked the series but at first was frustrated how short the episodes were. But upon a second viewing, somehow the episode length wasn't as irritating. πŸ€” I look forward to a second season!

(Beartato and Reginald, in a museum, gaze upon the Mona Lisa)

BEARTATO: There it is. The Mona Lisa. The most famous painting in history.
REGINALD: Wow! What's it do?

BEARTATO: It... what?
REGINALD: Why's it famous? What's it do?

(Beartato thinks.)

BEARTATO: I don't know.

REGINALD (to nearly museum employee): Excuse me! Sir? What's it do?

EMPLOYEE: You're the first person to ask! Watch this!

(The employee yanks a pull-string. Mona Lisa's eyes spin around and her mouth opens like a puppet)
MONA LISA: Honk honk! Honk honk!

(Everyone is delighted. This is true art.)

Book Group

The last Thursday of every month was Book Group,
when the books would gather together to discuss Brian.

β€œIt’s no fun here any more,” remarked Bleak House, glumly.β€¨β€œWhy doesn’t he read us?” whined the Grapes of Wrath. β€œIt makes me so angry!” β€¨β€œI’m sure he only bought me so he can show me off to his friends,”
complained Ulysses, in a stream of self-consciousness.

β€œI bet he can’t even remember my name, The Idiot,”
muttered a voice from the Russian literature section.β€¨β€œThat’s because he avoids you like The Plague,” said another.β€¨β€œC’est vrai!” came a cry. β€œIt is like I do not exist.”

β€œLet’s not give up on him yet.” It was Brave New World.
After some Persuasion, they agreed to give him one last chance.β€¨β€œBe quiet!” cried Waiting for Godot with Great Expectations.β€¨β€œHere he comes now!”

Brian entered the room, with his phone.
He sat down and watched some videos of baby pandas falling over.
After an hour or so, he started googling cats dressed as celebrities.

On the shelf, the books waited with uncracked spines,
their silence speaking volumes.

I was rather disappointed in it compared to last year. Looking back at my photos for last year, the arrangements seemed larger, more sculptural, and it felt
